Château Mitrotes Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is a representative of the right bank of Bordeaux. It typically consists of 100% Merlot and is produced by the Saby family, who are now in their ninth generation of producing high quality wines with passion and dedication on several wine estates in the Bordelais. These are still affordable and, in good years, can hold their own against much more expensive and well-known competitors.
In the glass, it is a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is characterized by aromatic density: ripe cherries, cassis and plums are combined with elegant notes of cedar wood, dark chocolate and subtle hints of spice. On the palate, the wine impresses with a balanced structure of velvety, soft tannins, harmonious acidity and a long, rich finish
Ageing in French oak, probably in a combination of new and used barrels, gives the wine additional complexity and depth, while the fruit remains in focus. The alcohol content is around 14% by volume, which is typical of more powerful Bordeaux wines.
Château Mitrotes Saint-Émilion Grand Cru can be enjoyed young as well as aged well, developing further subtleties over the years. It is an excellent accompaniment to matured beef, lamb, game dishes and complex cheeses. An elegant, terroir-driven Bordeaux that offers both immediate enjoyment and gains in profile as it matures.
