Chateau Citran Haut-Médoc AOP 2022

Château Citran 2022 is a red wine full of character from the renowned Haut-Médoc wine-growing area in the Bordeaux region of France. The traditional château, whose origins date back to the 13th century, is one of the most prestigious Crus Bourgeois Supérieurs on the left bank of the Gironde. The vineyard is located not far from the famous Margaux appellation and benefits from gravelly soils and an Atlantic climate, which provided ideal ripening conditions for the 2022 vintage: warm days, cool nights and sufficient rainfall ensured grapes with an excellent balance between fruit, structure and freshness.

The cuvée of Château Citran 2022 is traditionally based on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with the Cabernet being particularly precise and powerful in this vintage.

In the glass, the wine is a deep purple-red with light violet reflections. The nose is immediately filled with intense aromas of dark berries such as blackcurrants, blackberries and ripe cherries, complemented by subtle hints of orange zest, violets, liquorice, tobacco and subtle roasted aromas from the oak barrel.

On the palate, Château Citran 2022 is supple and structured, with ripe, well-integrated tannins and a fresh, invigorating acidity. The fruit is juicy without being overripe and is accompanied by a fine spiciness and slightly earthy notes. The medium-long finish has an elegant aftertaste of dark chocolate and sweet wood.

The 2022 vintage proves to be extremely successful for Château Citran. Numerous Bordeaux critics attest to the wine's significant qualitative development compared to previous vintages. The ratings of 93/100 points from Falstaff, 92/100 from Suckling and Galloni 90/100 speak for themselves. It has medium to high ageing potential and should develop positively over the next 10 to 15 years.

Château Citran 2022 is a successful, classic Haut-Médoc with a modern twist: fruit-driven, accessible and yet with enough depth and structure for long-term development. An excellent price-performance ratio makes it a recommendable choice for both Bordeaux beginners and experienced connoisseurs.
