Elegant, highly seductive bouquet with a clear expression of the terroir and grape variety. Floral (roses), fruity (strawberries, orange peel) and delicately spicy.

Full-bodied on the palate with a very nice concentration of fruit and dense texture, long finish with good acidity and a strong backbone, the fine tannins give the wine its clearly defined structure. Beautifully balanced, young, fresh and fruity.

Aurelio Montes und Douglas Murray gründeten Viña Montes 1987 („Discover Wine“). Ein Jahr später kamen Alfredo Vidaurre und Pedro Grand hinzu. Alle verschrieben sich einem Traum: chilenische Weine auf eine höhere Qualitätsstufe zu heben. Der Erfolg stellte sich schnell ein: der erste Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon erntete 1987 schon große Anerkennung und etablierte sich als Spitzenwein genauso schnell wie Alphas Chardonnay, Merlot und Shiraz. Von Beginn an war Montes Alpha ein Synonym für höchste Qualität aus Chile. Das Weingut legt großen Wert darauf, eine Erfolgsgeschichte zu schreiben, die zu 100 Prozent chilenisch ist.

Viña Montes leistete Pionierarbeit in Apalta, einer für den Weinbau außergewöhnlich geeigneten Region im Colchagua-Tal. Die Kreationen, die aus diesen Lagen stammen, beeindruckten die Kritiker weltweit: der erste Ultra-Premium-Wein oder Super-Chilene Montes Alpha ‘M’ im klassischen Bordeaux-Stil wurde 1996 gefeiert. Beim Montes Folly – einem 100-prozentigen Shiraz – war das im Jahr 2000 nicht anders. Und auch der Purple Angel (92% Carménère), 2005 eingeführt, ist von Beginn an ein großer Erfolg.

La Finca de Apalta ist das Herzstück von Viña Montes. Auf 135 Hektar wachsen die Apalta -Trauben Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Shiraz, Malbec, Petit Verdot und Cabernet Franc. In jüngerer Zeit kamen Mourvèdre, Grenache und Carignan hinzu.

Montes Reserva Chardonnay

The Montes Reserva Chardonnay has the typical fruity style of this grape variety with a juicy peach aroma.The 6-month ageing in American oak barrels gives it its balanced, subtle vanilla note without being overloaded or overly rich.The grapes are destemmed and go straight into the press. The must ferments and matures for 6 months in American oak. Only 50% of the Chardonnay undergoes malolactic fermentation to keep it fresh and full-bodied. Diatomaceous earth and layer filtration take place before bottling.This wine comes from the Curico Valley, where the cold breeze from the foothills of the Andes ensures that the grapes ripen slowly.Parts of this Chardonnay were matured in new French oak barrels with multiple layers to preserve its fruity character. This process is carried out at controlled temperatures to help preserve the fruity aromas. The wine is pale gold in color with greenish hues, aromas of butter, a hint of vanilla and tropical fruit. Fresh and fruity on the palate with good body and balance, creamy complexity and a lingering, elegant finish.Drink the Chardonnay with salads with fried fish and shellfish, white meat and pasta with cream sauce.

Montes Outer Limits Sauvignon Blanc

This Sauvignon Blanc from Chile has an exotic aroma of passion fruit and grapefruit with hints of grass, boxwood and tomato leaves. The Montes Outer Limits Sauvignon Blanc is mineral on the palate with subtle salty notes. It is powerful and elegant at the same time. The long-lasting finish is fruity and intense. The pure Sauvignon Blanc is straw-colored with a delicate greenish shimmer.The grapes for the Montes Outer Limits Sauvignon Blanc are harvested by hand in the cool morning hours and transported to the winery chilled. There they are sorted and crushed at a maximum of 10 degrees. The resulting must is clarified by cold sedimentation and then fermented in fermentation tanks at 10-12 degrees. The white wine then matures for a few months on yeast cells. The slow and cool fermentation and maturation on the yeast cells give the wine its special fruit, which is typical of a Sauvignon Blanc. The Montes Alpha Syrah from the Vina Montes winery comes from Chile, from the Colchagua Valley region to be precise. This wine is particularly balanced and smooth.The dry red wine presents itself in an elegant red color with black-purple reflections.
