Salentein Primus Malbec

The ‘Barrel Selection’ line from the Salentein winery comprises pure varietal wines whose vines grow in vineyards situated between 1050 and 1700 metres above sea level, irrigated by the clean meltwater from the Andes mountains. The stony soils protect the vines from excessively cool temperatures at night. It is complex on the nose, offering an abundance of red fruit and black berries as well as light floral notes. Each sip softly caresses the palate with lots of fruit and a delicate sweetness. The finish is long and very smooth. This Malbec is fresh and fruity, with a lovely intensity. We recommend drinking it at a temperature of 16 °C (60.8 °F). Salentein Barrel Selection Merlot
This Barrel Selection from the Argentinian winery Bodegas Salentein in the Valle de Uco at the foot of the Andes is a single-varietal Merlot. Winemaker José Galante, one of Argentina's best-known and most successful oenologists and a former professor at the University of Maza, has created a full-bodied, wonderfully fruity Merlot that is as intense as it is nuanced. This is due in particular to the high temperatures during the day in the Uco Valley, which are accompanied by cool nights, so that optimal ripening of the grapes is guaranteed. The Barrel Selection Merlot has a deep red color with hints of blue. The nose reveals fruit, ripe quinces, wild berries and spices, combined with tobacco and vanilla nuances from ageing in French oak barrels. The palate is extremely full-bodied, soft and superbly structured, with ripe and very fine tannins and a long, flattering finish. This Barrel Selection Merlot not only shows a great, fruity richness, but also has a lot of substance and concentration and therefore much more character than its competitors. If you are looking for the typical and not just fruity type of Merlot, this is the wine for you. In this respect, the Salentein Barrel Selection Merlot is exactly what Bodegas Salentein want to achieve, namely to bring the wonderful terroir of their vineyards in Mendoza into the bottle. This Merlot is a pleasure on its own. As a food pairing, it loves matured hard cheese, but also all dishes with beef, red meat and anything grilled. We recommend serving this red wine at a drinking temperature of 16 degrees and decanting it half an hour beforehand.

Kaiken Malbec
The Kaiken Estate Malbec comes from the Agrelo vineyards in Luján de Cuyo, around 40 km south of Mendoza. The region's warm daytime climate and cool nights produce grapes with good freshness and aromatic fruit. The deep clay soils support a balanced red wine with soft tannins and a pleasant structure. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in concrete tanks after destemming. Part of the wine matures for a few months in French oak barrels, while the larger part is matured without wood contact. This keeps the wine juicy and fruity, with a subtle spiciness and soft tannins. In the glass, the Kaiken Malbec is a deep ruby red. The nose is dominated by aromas of plums and cherries, supported by light floral notes. On the palate, the Malbec is fresh, balanced and easily accessible. It is ideal with grilled or roasted meat, pasta with strong sauces or semi-mature cheese. Serve at 15-17 °C; decanting is not necessary.Kaiken Estate Malbec is an uncomplicated, fruity red wine - perfect for everyday enjoyment.
