The Portillo series from Bodegas Salentein showcases the Malbec grape variety in all its glory. The Salentein Portillo Malbec is a dense ruby-red with bright glints in the glass. The wine has a wonderful bouquet offering aromas of dark fruit such as blackberries, plums and wild berries. On the palate, the Salentein Portillo Malbec is powerful but harmonious and well-balanced. Its finish is characterised by nuances of fine spices and earthy notes.

The ‘Barrel Selection’ line from the Salentein winery comprises pure varietal wines whose vines grow in vineyards situated between 1050 and 1700 metres above sea level, irrigated by the clean meltwater from the Andes mountains. The stony soils protect the vines from excessively cool temperatures at night. It is an ideal accompaniment to well-cooked steaks, but you’ll definitely want more than one glass when enjoying this wine on its own.It is a brilliant deep purple - almost black - in the glass. The spicy, fruity aroma is already noticeable on the nose, along with notes of plums, violets, pepper and tobacco. Der Finca las Moras Los Intocables  Black ist in jeder Hinsicht außergewöhnlich. Schon die Namensgebung lässt vermuten, dass hier etwas Neues, Innovatives auf den Weingenießer zukommt. Der Name ist angelehnt an die FBI Agenten aus den 1930er Jahren, die gegen den Alkoholhandel Al Capones kämpften, bekannt als die „Unbestechlichen“. Ungewöhnlich ist auf jeden Fall die 12-monatige Reifung des Weins in gebrauchten Eichenfässern, in denen vorher berühmte amerikanische Bourbon-Whiskeys lagerten. Das Resultat ist ein unheimlich runder, feingliedriger Wein.Die Trauben, zu 100% Malbec, stammen aus speziell ausgesuchten Weinbergslagen, die vornehmlich sandige, mit Lehm durchsetzte Böden aufweisen. Ein geringer Traubenertrag und die Reifung in den Whiskey Fässern geben dem Los Intocables Black Malbec eine sehr dunkle, fast schwarze Farbe. Der Wein hat einen vollen Körper und sorgt am Gaumen für vielschichtige Eindrücke. Es finden sich sowohl Noten von Blaubeere und Pflaume als auch Aromen von Schokolade, Karamell und Vanille. Der Wein hinterlässt ein weiches, intensives Geschmackserlebnis mit dezenter Süße.

Since its founding in 1995, Bodegas Salentein has spared no effort to become one of the premium wineries in Argentina. The winery succeeded in recruiting star oenologist José Galante, and invested millions in the construction of the wine cellar that was built underground in the shape of a cross and equipped with the latest technology. The Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most outstanding results of these efforts. It is a pure varietal Cabernet Sauvignon that matured for 12 months in French oak casks before it was bottled. It is a striking, intensely dark red – almost black - in the glass, offering the classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of currants, pepper and vanilla. It is fleshy on the palate, showing a very elegant structure and fine, soft, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and voluminous. Those who prefer typical Cabernet Sauvignon wines will be delighted by this Salentein Barrel Selection.
