This Chardonnay from South Africa matured in wooden casks and is redolent of fresh citrus fruit, pineapple and melon, complemented by nuances of vanilla. The elegant Oude Kaap Chardonnay Reserve is crisp on the palate, with a clear structure and a fresh, subtle acidity. This is a soft, round, almost creamy white wine. Enjoy this Chardonnay with asparagus, salad or seafood.

The wine is made from a blue grape variety, the Pinotage.The light pink color is achieved by having the juice very briefly in contact with the skins, therefore giving it only a bit of it's color.It is a dry Rose, but certainly not a tight dry wine. The fruit, especially with characteristics of strawberry and raspberry, remains in the soft finish. Delicious fresh and soft wine that certainly does great as a summer fruity thirst quencher.Im Winter empfehlen wir den Oude Kaap Rosé als Basiswein für die Zubereitung von Rosé-Glühwein.

Die Trauben des Spier Signature Chardonnay aus der Region Western Cape in Südafrika werden früh morgens von Februar bis März per Hand geerntet. Nach der Handlese werden sie gepresst und in Edelstahltanks mit ausgewählten Hefestämmen fermentiert, wobei später nur die besten Tanks verwertet werden. Zudem wurde nur ein kleiner Teil in neuen französischen Eichenfässern ausgebaut, was für eine schöne Struktur und Komplexität des Weines sorgt.Der trockene Weißwein zeigt sich im Glas leicht strohgelb mit grünlichen Reflexen. Im Bouquet finden sich Noten von Grapefruit, Limette, gelbem Apfel, Banane, Birne und einen Hauch von Vanille wieder. Am Gaumen überzeugt der Spier Signature Chardonnay mit fruchtigen Noten, einem cremigen Mundgefühl und einem schönen Säurespiel mit großer Ausgewogenheit.Der reinsortige Chardonnay stammt von dem Weingut Spier und lässt sich am besten mit gebratenem Lachs in Zitronen-Butter-Soße oder Ente kombinieren und bei einer empfohlenen Trinktemperatur von 10 °C. genießen.
