Der Beyerskloof Eerste Ry Cabernet Sauvignon ist ein herausragender Rotwein aus der angesehenen Beyerskloof Winery in Stellenbosch, Südafrika. "Eerste Ry" bedeutet übersetzt „Erste Reihe“ und beschreibt damit die Art der Trauben, die von den ersten Pflanzungen auf dem Weingut stammen. Eerste Ry bezieht sich symbolisch auf die ältesten Weinberge.

In der Nase beeindruckt der Beyerskloof Eerste Ry Cabernet Sauvignon mit einem komplexen Bouquet aus dunklen Früchten wie schwarzen Johannisbeeren, Cassis und Brombeeren. Diese Aromen werden von subtilen Gewürznoten, Tabak und einem Hauch von Eichenholz begleitet, der von der Reifung in Fässern stammt. Insgesamt 24 Monate verbrauchte der Wein in neuen französischen Eichenfässern. Hinzu kommt eine Flaschenreifung für weitere 2 Jahre. Am Gaumen finden sich Anklänge von dunkler Schokolade und würzige Zeder. Die Struktur dieses Weins zeigt sich mit kräftigen, dennoch geschmeidigen Tanninen. Der Erste Ry Cabernet von Beyerskloof hat eine hervorragende Komplexität und eine tolle Balance. Im Jahre 1988 gründete Beyers Truter, einer der bedeutendsten Winzer am Kap und damals Winemaker bei Kanonkop Estate das Weingut Beyerskloof. Auf der Suche nach einer geeigneten Farm fand er in der Region Koelenhof nahe Stellenbosch das alte Gut mit Namen Nooitgedacht. Diese Farm war bis 1895 in Besitz der Familie Beyers, welche direkte Vorfahren von Beyers Truter waren. So konnte das erworbene Grundstück folgerichtig nur einen Namen tragen: Beyerskloof

Die Philosophie von Beyerskloof besteht in dem Bestreben mit den natürlichen Ressourcen ein unvergessliches, erstklassiges Weinerlebnis zu schaffen.

Eine Verpflichtung die Beyerskloof international bekannt gemacht hat und zum Beispiel durch den Gewinn der Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Trophy für die beste Rotweincuvee der Welt beim INTERNATIONAL WINE & SPIRIT COMPETITION in London Ausdruck fand.

Beyers und sein Team von Beyerskloof treibt der ständige Wunsch, innovativ zu sein, vorausschauend zu denken und letztendlich die Nase vorn zu haben. Beyerskloof hat das Bestreben den alltäglichen Konsumenten zufrieden zu stellen.

Eine weitere Besonderheit ist die Hingabe an der Verbesserung der Pinotage Rebe zu arbeiten, so wundert es nicht, dass Beyers Truter Gründungsmitglied der Pinotage Association ist.

‘Diesel Pinotage’ is certainly an unusual name for a wine. However, it is easily explained once you know the history behind it. ‘Diesel’ was the name of the dog of Beyer Truters, the owner of the Beyerskloof estate. The dog was his beloved, loyal and constant companion. Diesel was always at his side, whether in the vineyards, in the cellar or in his office, so it was only logical that Beyers Truters named his best wine after his ‘best’ friend.The grapes for the Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage come from bush vines that are cultivated without wire trellis training systems. In South Africa, the bush vine method is often used specifically for Pinotage. The fermentation took place in open barrels for 5 days at an average temperature of 78.8° F, while the must was pressed down every 2 hours. Subsequently, the malolactic fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks. Afterwards, the wine matured for 21 months in new French oak casks. Only 20 out of a total of 300 filled barrels were chosen to produce the Diesel Pinotage.The Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage is a deep purple in the glass. Its bouquet is characterised by complex aromas of blackberries and dark fruit, complemented by elegant notes of cedar wood. On the palate, the wine shows a fine but complex structure of black and red fruit. This Pinotage is truly a superb wine, captivating with its outstanding balance between fruit and wood. This wine has an outstanding ageing potential and it is expected to be a genuine delight over the next 10 years or even longer.It is an ideal accompaniment to spicy Indian cuisine or a well-matured rump steak. The Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage is arguably one of the best Pinotage wines from the Cape.
