Pruno comes from the same vineyards as the world-famous Finca Villacreces.

The quality of the grapes comes close to the "big brother", however the Pruno is an earlier accessible wine. A convincing result, especially considering the very reasonable price.

Dense ruby red, fruit-driven, concentrated aromas on the palate, juicy, almost meaty, yet playful and youthful, good harmony, joy to drink at a high-level Ribera!

12 months in French oak barrels (Darnajou and Taransaud) matured.

Gonzalo Anton gründete 1987 mit ein paar Freunden im Herzen der Rioja Alavesa in Spanien die Bodega Izadi. Er baute in Villabuena de Alava die modernste Bodega der Gegend, um ausschließlich Weine von höchster Qualität zu produzieren. Als 2000 sein Sohn Lalo Anton in die Bodega Izadi eintrat, startete die große Expansion des Familienunternehmens. Mit der Finca Villacreces, der Bodega Vetus und der Bodega Orben wurden drei hochwertige Weingüter in die Bodega Izadi integriert. Da alle Bodegas autark arbeiten sollten, gründete Lalo Anto die Grupo Artevino. Jede einzelne Bodega hat eine eigene Philosophie Weine zu erzeugen. Das gemeinsame Ziel der Grupo Artevino ist die Erzeugung hochwertiger, charaktervoller Weine mit einem hohen Wiedererkennungswert. Das gelingt eindrucksvoll mit Kreationen aus Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon und Merlot.

The Protos 27 Tinto is an anniversary wine. Bodegas Protos is thus celebrating its 90th anniversary. In 1927, 11 winegrowers dared to plant vines in the Ribera del Duero region, which was still considered completely unreal and unsuitable at the time, and found a winery. They called it Bodega Ribera Duero. It was not until 55 years later that the name of the winery was dropped to pave the way for the establishment of the DO Ribera del Duero. As it was the first winery to be established, there was probably nothing more obvious than to name itself Protos, "the first", from the Greek.The first vintage, 2014, is a tribute to the work of the founders. By using specially developed yeasts from their own research, they are breaking new ground with this wine. The retro label and modern ageing of the wine are an impressive combination of tradition and modernity.The grapes for the Protos 27 Tinto come from Tempranillo vines, some of which are 70 years old. In addition to alcoholic fermentation at 25 degrees Celsius, malolactic fermentation took place in new French oak barrels. The wine then underwent 16 months of ageing in new French barrels and 12 months of bottle ageing.On the nose, there is plenty of fruit of black raspberry, blackberry and cherry aromas. Cocoa and tobacco notes are just as impressive as vanilla and chocolate. Lots of power, complexity, elegance and balance on the palate. The finely integrated tannins make the wine appear fresh and creamy. The harmonious interplay of all components is what makes this wine so unique.Enjoy the Protos 27 Tinto with grilled meat of all kinds. It is also an excellent companion for hearty stews or on its own for a relaxed evening in front of the TV.
