Spice Route Pinotage

The Spice Route Pinotage is a powerful, deep red wine from Swartland, one of South Africa's most up-and-coming wine regions. Pinotage, South Africa's flagship grape variety, is always an unmistakable taste experience. The intense ruby red Spice Route Pinotage smells of blackcurrants and cherries. There are also fine, sweet vanilla aromas. On the palate, this red wine from the Western Cape province in South Africa is intensely fruity with velvety tannins.

An easy-drinking wine. The grapes come from unirrigated bush vines in a single vineyard in Malmesbury. The Spice Route Pinotage matured in American oak. Discover this Pinotage with spicy Indian dishes or a mature steak, for example.

Spice Route Winery

Die Spice Route Wine Company liegt in der Region Swartland in der Stadt Paarl in Südafrika. Charles Back startete 1997 dieses Projekt.

Spier Signature Pinotage
By planting the pinotage grapes in rows in a north-easterly direction the grapes are not in the bright afternoon sun. This prevents them to develop a roasted and spicy aroma. And it helps even more that the sea is near, only 8 kilometer away. By low proceeds of 50 hectoliters per hectare the grapes get lots of intensity and the wine has enough strength and depth to let a part of it mature in wooden barrels. Fermentation at no more than 25 ° C ensures plenty of fruit. 40% of the wine matured in French oak barrels or American origin, making this a pleasant vanilla tasty Pinotage without sacrificing the fruit.

Lanzerac Pinotage
The grapes for the Lanzerac Pinotage come from vineyards located at an altitude of between 400 and 420 meters above sea level. The prevailing wind here helps to cool the grapes in hot summers. The soils consist mainly of decomposed granite, which favors the deep growth of the vines and the soil retains water better.Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with regular pumping over. First, second and third-fill oak barrels were used to mature the Lanzerac Pinotage. Maturation took place over a period of 15 months. At this point, the optimal integration between wood and fruit was complete. The result is an excellent color and a scent of ripe berries and plums. On the palate, the red wine is velvety dense, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced. Aromas of high-quality chocolate and notes of caramel delight the palate with wonderfully integrated tannins.Enjoy the Lanzerac Pinotage with venison medallions in plum sauce or an Asian curry dish.

Finca Las Moras DADA No.1
