Vilafonté Series M

The Vilafonté Series M is one of the masterpieces of winemaking in South Africa. Mysterious and powerful at the same time, this red wine embodies the essence of elegance and sophistication. In the glass, Vilafonté Series M presents itself with an opaque purple-black hue and exudes an enticing bouquet of redcurrants, blackberries, mulberries and a hint of star anise. The wine smells of charcuterie, sweet baking spices, lemon and jasmine tea. This powerful cuvée of Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc is beautifully round on the palate, with a pleasant structure and precise power. Wonderful umami aromas of Parma ham harmonize seamlessly with a salty minerality and culminate in an intense, fruity finish.

Enjoy the opulent texture and impressive depth of this red wine. Vilafonté Series M can be enjoyed now, but will continue to develop over the next 20 years.

So you have to decide whether to drink it now or wait a little longer, either way it will be an absolute delight.

Stag’s Leap FAY Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Most of the grapes for the FAY Cabernet Sauvignon come from the middle and lower plots of the Fay vineyard, where they develop the characteristic red fruit aromas particularly beautifully and intensively. Only a small portion of just under 10% comes from the rows of vines planted to the east, which give the blend a little more power and fullness. All the grapes are vinified separately by parcel, only now are they blended into the FAY blend and left to mature for 18 months in French oak barrels (80% new, 20% single-oak) to develop the unique balance of juicy fruit, power and elegance that characterizes the FAY Cabernet Sauvignon so unmistakably. The Stag's Leap FAY Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep ruby to plum red color. The American red wine delights with its classic FAY bouquet with dense, juicy, fruity aromas of sweet cherries, plums and blackcurrants, elegantly underpinned with finely spiced oak notes, hints of sandalwood, licorice, flowers and forest floor (moss, undergrowth). On the palate, this first-class Cabernet Sauvignon is powerful, juicy, fruity (sweet ripe cherries, plums), with gentle notes of caramel and spices that subtly emphasize the fruity character of the wine. Firmly structured yet gentle, with an elegant balance of silky tannins and fresh, natural acidity - accessible at an early stage thanks to the dominant fruit, yet with promising ageing and maturation potential. This dry red wine is an excellent accompaniment to pink roast duck breast with cherry sauce, stuffed pigeon with black olives, roast lamb or leg of lamb with herbs and spicy mature cheeses.

Matsu El Viejo
The Toro region in northwestern Spain is renowned for intense and powerful wines. The Matsu El Viejo is additionally equipped with elegance and finesse, reflecting the flawless artistry of winemaking with the Tempranillo grape, which is known as Tinta de Toro in this region. The Matsu El Viejo, which means ‘the old man’, is a selection of grapes from vineyards that are more than 100 years old. The vines in these low-yield vineyards are biodynamically cultivated. After the fermentation and the subsequent malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 16 months in French oak casks. The wine was deliberately not filtered, thus preserving its full aroma structure. The Matsu El Viejo is a deep cherry-red in the glass with purple glints on the rim. It has a wonderfully intense bouquet of black fruit. Due to the ageing in casks, the Matsu El Viejo shows roast aromas and notes of smoke and spices that are wonderfully structured and integrated. On the palate, the wine is fleshy, ripe and round. The noticeable but fine tannins give the El Viejo a light sweetness. The finish is once again characterised by the harmony between fruit and wood aromas. The Matsu El Viejo is a typical accompaniment to meals, and stands up well to  hearty sauces and intensely flavoured grilled dishes. We recommend trying this amazing wine with blue cheeses.

Château de Beaucastel Hommage Jacques Perrin Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2018
This wine is a tribute to the former cellar master Jacques Perrin of Château de Beaucastel, and is considered one of the best - perhaps even the very best - Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Made from the oldest vines of this legendary estate, which are in fact still ungrafted, the cuvée consists of 75% Mourvedre, 10% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 5% Counoise. In fact, one can only genuflect before this wine, as it is the intrinsically flawless essence of what constitutes an elegant and exceptional representative of the Rhône region. The 2018 Hommage Perrin Beaucastel Châteauneuf is an iconic wine and its complexity, finesse and breed are awe-inspiring.  This starts on the nose, which combines such an intensive depth of dark berry with floral notes, cherry, peach and mango as well as a beautiful minerality that you'll constantly be discovering new, remarkably dense and intricately interwoven aromas.  This continues on the palate with great depth and freshness, still dominated by the fragrant fruit and framed with a bit of salt, licorice, and strong yet exquisite and sophisticated tannins.  The finish approaches infinity and once again reflects the concentration that we have already experienced on the palate.  This wine is a marathon runner and requires several more years of ageing in the cellar to ensure that you can fully appreciate its superlative hedonism.  However, as already predicted, it will also bring joy to the heirs of today's wine connoisseurs with its longevity. The wine critics are raving about the Hommage Perrin Beaucastel Châteauneuf 2018:  Parker: 99/100; Jeb Dunnuck: 97/100; Decanter: 97/100; Galloni: 97/100.

Château de Beaucastel Hommage Jacques Perrin Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2020
Dedicated to the former cellar master of Château Beaucastel, the 2020 Château de Beaucastel "Hommage à Jacques Perrin" is a legendary representative of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, if not the leader of these renowned wines.Produced according to biodynamic principles, the 2020 is also the essence of what can be understood as the purest and truest expression of its terroir. 2020 was not as hot a year as 2019 in the southern Rhône, but did not offer difficult weather conditions, but a constant, slightly windy climate. The harvest could be carried out without time pressure, so that plot by plot could be harvested for the best ripeness.75% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 10% Grenache and 5% Counoise make up the cuvée, which is of great complexity, rich in black fruits, ripe oranges, cigar, spring flowers and lots of spices. At this point, James Suckling should be quoted, who ascribes "myriad nuances" to the grape juice. Decanter calls it "stylish and seductive", while Robert Parker even predicts that it will achieve a three-digit score. An outstanding Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with correspondingly fabulous ratings:James Suckling 99/100Decanter: 98/100Robert Parker: 97-99/100
