Ein eindrucksvoller Blend aus Südafrika, der dank seiner natürlichen Machart die Vorzüge von südafrikanischem Shiraz und Cabernet Sauvignon authentisch transportiert: Der Spier Good Natured Organic Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon vereint in seinem Bouquet Noten von schwarzen Johannisbeeren und Maulbeeren, wunderbar harmonierend mit Nuancen von dunkler Schokolade und einer feinen Würze (Piment und schwarzer Pfeffer).

Am Gaumen ist die Komposition aus 57% Shiraz und 33% Cabernet Sauvignon trocken und wunderbar ausgewogen, mit mittlerem Körper. Die samtigen Tannine sind gekonnt integriert, dazu eine schöne aromatische Dichte, die Fruchtbetontheit und Würze harmonisch zusammenbringt. Nuancen von Mokka runden das Geschmackserlebnis ab.

Spier setzt mit der Spier Good Natured Organic-Serie auf einen Weinbau, der frei ist von künstlichen Pestiziden, Fungiziden und Düngemitteln. Tania Kleintjes, Organic Winemaker bei Spier, ist überzeugt: Je weniger menschliche Einmischung in die Natur, desto besser ist das Ergebnis.

Die Spier Wine Farm liegt in der weltberühmten Weinregion Stellenbosch in Südafrika, etwa 50 Kilometer von Kapstadt entfernt. Der Hof hat eine lange Geschichte, die zurückreicht bis ins Jahr 1692. Als einer der ältesten Höfe in der Region ist Spier für seine kapholländischen Giebelhäuser bekannt, eine besondere Form der Architektur. Auf den Ländereien des Weingutes Spier stehen gleich 21 gut erhaltene Häuser. Diese „Gables“ zeugen von den Einflüssen der Gründer aus dem mittelalterlichen Europa und sind eine wahre Attraktion in Südafrika.

Niel Joubert kaufte Spier 1965. Damals war es üblich, Wein für die größeren Genossenschaftskellereien, wie der Stellenbosch Farmers Winery und KWV, zu produzieren. 1971 begann er jedoch mit der Abfüllung seiner eigenen Weinmarken. 1993 ging der Hof in den Besitz von Dick Enthoven über. Unter seiner Führung begann eine umfangreiche Renovierung, um die historischen Gebäude der Farm zu erhalten. Die Wein-Produktion und ein breites Angebot an Freizeitaktivitäten sind heute das Kerngeschäft auf dem Hof. Spier ist in beiden Geschäftsfeldern für seine Nachhaltigkeitsinitiativen bekannt.

Der rubinrote Spier Good Natured Organic Shiraz wurde größtenteils im Edelstahltank ausgebaut. Dazu kam ein kleiner Anteil an französischem Eichenholz zum Einsatz. The Pinotage vines from the Spier vineyard are planted in rows facing north-east to south-east and are therefore never exposed to the bright afternoon sun. This prevents the grapes from overheating and developing overly spicy aromas. The proximity to the sea, which is only about 8 kilometers away, is also helpful. A low harvest of 50 hectolitres per hectare gives the grapes plenty of intensity and the wine has enough strength and depth to mature in wooden barrels. Fermentation at no more than 25 °C ensures plenty of fruit. 40% of the wine matures in French or American oak barrels, giving this Pinotage a pleasant vanilla flavor without losing the fruit.Deep cherry red in the glass, the bouquet smells of delicious fresh fruit, cherries and coconut.
