The Neil Ellis Cape South Coast Chardonnay exemplifies the clear, terroir-driven style of the renowned South African winery Neil Ellis. The grapes come from selected, cool sites on the Cape South Coast, a region known for its maritime character, fresh winds and long ripening periods, offering ideal conditions for elegant, exciting Chardonnays.

In the glass, the wine is balanced and precise. Fine aromas of citrus fruit, white peach and apple unfold on the nose, complemented by subtle floral notes and a restrained, well-integrated wood spice. On the palate, the Chardonnay is fresh and structured, with lively acidity, a creamy texture and a clear definition of fruit that never seems heavy.

The ageing process is designed to emphasize freshness, origin and balance. Subtle wood notes support the structure and lend depth without masking the natural elegance of the wine. The finish is long, mineral and of great clarity.

Neil Ellis Wines gehört zu den Pionieren des modernen südafrikanischen Weinbaus und wurde 1984 von Neil Ellis in Stellenbosch gegründet. Schon früh verfolgte er einen damals ungewöhnlichen Ansatz: Statt alle Rebsorten an einem Standort anzubauen, suchte er gezielt nach den Weinbergen, in denen jede Rebsorte ihr volles Potenzial entfalten kann. Diese terroirorientierte Philosophie prägt das Weingut bis heute und machte Neil Ellis zu einem der Wegbereiter herkunftsgeprägter Weine in Südafrika.

Die Trauben stammen aus sorgfältig ausgewählten Spitzenlagen in Stellenbosch, Elgin, Groenekloof und Piekenierskloof. Jede Region bringt ihre eigenen klimatischen und geologischen Besonderheiten mit und verleiht den Weinen so einen unverwechselbaren Charakter. Im Keller setzt Neil Ellis auf eine schonende Vinifikation mit möglichst wenigen Eingriffen, damit Herkunft und Jahrgang authentisch zum Ausdruck kommen. Holden Manz Visionaire

The name Holden Manz Visionaire already hides something special. It is an attempt to create an expressive wine from 6 different grape varieties. And it has succeeded! The interplay was a real challenge for the winemaker, as a wide variety of components had to be taken into account. The grapes were selected from different plots with different soil types. Ageing took place in 20% new 225-liter French oak barrels and 80% in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels. After 24 months of ageing, the wines were blended and bottled.The result is a wine of incredible complexity, with a perfect balance between residual sugar and acidity. The nose is spoiled by a multitude of aromas, such as mulberry, redcurrant, delicate notes of white pepper and violets. On the palate, the Holden Manz Visionaire is elegant and smooth with medium maturity. It is dominated by red and black fruits with an exceptional minerality. The finely integrated tannins are firm and round off the taste impression wonderfully.Combine an air-dried fillet steak in pepper sauce or lamb chops with this wonderfully complex Holden Manz Visionaire.

Holden Manz Vernissage

The Holden Manz Vernissage is a cuvée consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety gives the wine a lovely structure and particularly elegant tannins. Shiraz and Merlot provide notes of spices and fruit aromas, which are mainly characterised by nuances of dark cherries and plums. The wine is a light ruby-red, developing into a clear red towards the rim in the glass. The Holden Manz Vernissage has a balanced acidity and shows vivid aromas of cassis, tobacco and spice, giving the wine a very good balance. Its finish is soft and long-lasting. Winemaker Thierry Haberer selected the grapes from various vineyards with different types of soil. The grapes were harvested when fully ripe, thus giving the wine a wonderful complexity. After the careful blending of the single batches and grape varieties and the numerous tastings involved, Thierry finally created this expressive, balanced and very fruity Holden Manz Vernissage. The wine matured for 18 months in 225-litre French oak casks. Enjoy the wine with lamb stews with garlic sauce or grilled polenta.

Holden Manz Big G

The ruby-red Holden Manz Big G is a tribute to the owner of the winery Gerard Holden, a strong, powerful and energetic man - like the wine, a full-flavoured and full-bodied Bordeaux blend. The wine, consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, is well-balanced, very well-structured and powerful. The grapes were picked by hand and only the best grapes from selected plots in the different vineyards were taken to create the Holden Manz Big G. The wine underwent a malolactic fermentation in French casks, of which 30% were new and 70% were used barrels. Subsequently, the wine was aged for another 24 months in wooden casks. The Holden Manz Big G offers aromas of black cherries, red plums, mint, bilberries and cedar in its bouquet, along with hints of pine and subtle herbal nuances. On the palate, it shows noticeable but soft tannins that unite with creamy notes of cassis. The prolonged finish is characterised by a splendid fullness of dark fruit. The Holden Manz Big G is an excellent accompaniment to dried meat or Beef Wellington.
