This Penfolds Bin 28 Shiraz is a deep brick-red in colour. Initially, the wine offers sumptuous, warm and spicy Shiraz aromas such as cloves, cinnamon, coriander, juicy plums and cherries. Later, it shows notes of liquorice and fine nuances of vanilla.This wine is medium-bodied and rich in taste, showing juicy aromas of plums, cherries and berries, which mingle with notes of dark chocolate, mocha and spices.The wine matured for 12 months in repeatedly used American oak casks.The Penfolds Bin 28 is a prime example of Australian Shiraz wines, made of grapes which ripened at a pleasant warmth. It is robust and offers opulent, juicy aromas, without showing dominant notes of new oak or an excessive alcohol content. This Shiraz was produced for the first time in 1962 and owed its name ‘Kalimna’ to the renowned vineyard located in the Barossa Valley. Penfolds acquired this vineyard in 1945, from whose grapes the wine was initially solely made.Today, the Bin 28 is a real Penfolds - a multi-regional and multi-vineyard blend, which means that this wine is made from vines from different regions and vineyards.
