Dr. Bürklin-Wolf is renowned for its high-quality Riesling wines from the Palatinate region. The estate from Wachenheim an der Weinstrasse earned its position among Germany’s best wine-growing estates over centuries. This Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Riesling has a nose redolent of fresh apple, lime, pear and grapefruit with nuances of white pepper and shows light floral notes as well. Bezeichnend für die außergewöhnliche Qualität des Weingutes Dr. Bürklin-Wolf ist die Beschreibung im Gault Millau 2015: „Rieslingfans bekommen alleine bei der Erwähnung des Namens Bürklin-Wolf leuchtende Augen. Tatsächlich dürfte es weltweit kein Weingut geben mit solch einer Auswahl an Spitzenrieslingen aus besten Lagen.

in der Tat, Dr. Bürklin-Wolf gehört zu den Spitzenweingütern in Deutschland. Das Weingut produziert auf 85 Hektar überwiegend Weißweine und hier fast ausschließlich Riesling. Bürklin-Wolf setzt sehr stark auf Terroir, führt eine eigene Lagenklassifizierung (rund 28 Hektar sind hier klassifiziert) durch und ist Mitglied im Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter.

In den Bereichen der Spitzenlagen von Dr. Bürklin-Wolf profitieren die Reben von Basalteinlagerungen im Boden, die die Sonnenwärme gut speichern und so den Reben einen Wachstumsvorteil bieten. Das Weingut hat eine lange Tradition und die Geschichte beginnt im Jahr 1597. Seinerzeit gründete Bernhard Bürklin das Weingut. Die heutige Bedeutung bekam das Gut allerdings erst ab etwa 1875, als Albert Bürklin seine Frau Luise Wolf heiratete und das Weingut seinen heutigen Namen erhielt. Sein Großneffe, ebenfalls mit dem Namen Albert Bürklin, führte im 20. Jahrhundert den Betrieb fort. Seit 1990 wird das Weingut von Bettina Bürklin-von Guradze geführt. Die Geschäftsführung hat seit 2008 Steffen Brahner inne.

Besonders den nachhaltigen Weinanbau hat sich Dr. Bürklin-Wolf auf die Fahnen geschrieben: man setzt verstärkt auf die Rückbesinnung zur Natur. Auf synthetische Spritzmittel oder mineralischen Dünger wird weitestgehend verzichtet. Gedüngt wird wie früher mit Mist oder Kompost und man versucht, mit Hilfe von Pheromonfallen dem Schädlingsbefall zu begegnen. Seit 2005 ist die gesamte Anbaufläche auf biodynamischen Weinbau umgestellt.
