The Château Routas Rosé Provence AOP from Provence is arguably the best rosé wine currently available in this price range. The wine world is rarely as unanimous in its praise as it is for this rosé. Not only The Wine Advocate, James Suckling, Wine and Spirits, and Wine Spectator praise this wine to the skies. James Suckling even goes so far as to say, and I quote: “This could be the best rosé in the world.” But enough with the superlatives—let’s get to the actual description. The Château Routas Rosé Provence has a delicate light pink color. On the nose, there are fresh notes of watermelon, peach aromas, hints of strawberries, and a touch of orange zest. On the palate, this dry rosé is soft, supple, and beautifully structured. The lively flavors of wild strawberries and cherries are accompanied by mineral notes and a slight peppery spice. The crisp, fresh acidity contributes to the refreshingly long finish.Cellar master and oenologist Jean Louis Bavay, who learned his craft at Domaine Ott, is a passionate professional. Together with Philippe Saraciva, who oversees the vineyards, he creates a French rosé that is unique in its complexity and flavor. The Château Routas Rosé is a wine for any occasion; it shines as an aperitif or a pairing with appetizers.93 points from James Suckling
