The l'Hospitalet de Gazin Pomerol comes from the famous Château Gazin, a neighbor of Pétrus from the Pomerol appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux.
The l'Hospitalet de Gazin Pomerol 2021 is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its grapes were hand-picked and the wine matured for 18 months in oak barrels.
What we particularly like about l'Hospitalet is that this wine has great ageing potential, but can also be a lot of fun to drink in its youth after at least an hour of decanting.
The l'Hospitalet de Gazin is very well balanced and harmonious. It shows multi-layered aromas, including plums, tobacco, lots of blackberry, blackcurrant, some leather and chocolate; the tannins are present, but already have an excellent smoothness. The finish is long and spicy.
Excellent for food pairing with braised and grilled meats, entrecôte, steak and, of course, as a solo wine.
