Der historisch anmutende Name ist übrigens gar nicht so alt, wie er klingt. Das Château hieß bis 1989 nur "Ladouys" und wurde vom Computer-Spezialisten Christian Thiéblot 1989 gekauft, der dem Château den Namen seiner Ehefrau Lilian Ladouys voranstellte.

André Kunz beschreibt den Wein anläßlich der Fassprobe wie folgt: "59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot) Würziges, herbes, tiefes Bouquet, schwarze Beeren, Kohle, Edelhölzer, Korinthen, dunkler Tabak. Dichtverwobener, cremiger Gaumen mit kräftiger, süsser Frucht, viel gutem Tannin, muskulöser Struktur, vielfältiger, dunkler Aromatik, langer, aromatischer, herber Abgang".

Beachten Sie bitte, dass Weine aus der Appellation Saint Estèphe Langläufer sind, die eine gewisse Zeit benötigen, um sich richtig zu entwickeln. Die Trinkreife dürfte daher etwa 2026 einsetzen.

The Château La Commanderie is a cuvée made of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. The grapes for this classical Saint-Estèphe, in the Cru Bourgeois range, come from vines that are more than 30 years old. The wine matured for 12 months in French oak casks.The vines for the 2017 La Commanderie grew in the highest vineyards with gravel soils located in the village of Saint-Estèphe. The wine is a typical example of this outstanding vintage in the Bordeaux region. It is already very enjoyable but will further improve over the next 8-10 years. The Château La Commanderie is beguiling on the nose, offering lovely, spicy aromas and fragrances of red and dark berries, cherries, pepper and polish. On the palate, it has an impressive abundance of fruit and silky, very well integrated tannins and a lovely long finish, showing subtle hints of mint and herbs.This charming Saint-Estèphe goes beautifully with beef, steaks, lamb, game and various cheeses. We recommend decanting the wine 1-2 hours before drinking it.

2020 wurde Château Malescasse in den Rang eines Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel gehoben, die höchste Stufe, die es innerhalb dieser Klassifikation zu erreichen gilt."Schuld" daran dürfte auch der 2014 Malescasse sein, der als erster Jahrgang unter Mitwirkung des Star-Önologen Stéphane Derononcourt entstand. 54% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon und 10% Petit Verdot machen eine im besten Sinne runde Assemblage aus, wobei die malolaktische Gärung im Holzfass stattfand, bei 35% Neufassanteil und der Wein schließlich für volle 14 Monate in den Fässern nachreifen durfte.Eine rubinrote Farbe begrüßt uns, in der ausdrucksstarken Nase begegnen uns Schwarze Johannisbeere, Brombeere und Himbeere, alle mit einer schönen, reifen Note. Aromen von Röstmokka verleihen dem Wein eine große Eleganz und Komplexität. Am Gaumen sehr rund und stoffig, mit einem perfekten Spiel von Säure und Alkohol. Die Tannine sind seidig und führen zum ausgesprochen langanhaltenden und intensiven Ausklang hin.Wir empfehlen, den Wein mindestens eine halbe Stunde lang zu dekantieren.

The Château Malescasse 2022 comes from Lamarque, which is located in the renowned Haut-Médoc appellation, between Margaux and Saint-Julien. This historic estate, classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, benefits from the region’s characteristic gravelly soils, which provide ideal conditions for growing high-quality Bordeaux grape varieties. The 2022 vintage is composed of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45.5% Merlot, and 5.5% Petit Verdot, reflecting both the power of the exceptional 2022 vintage and the elegance of its terroir.The grapes are carefully selected and vinified by plot to optimally highlight the distinctive characteristics of each vineyard. The wine is then aged for 12 months, one-third of which is spent in new barriques, imparting additional complexity, structure, and aging potential. The result is a characterful Haut-Médoc with great aging potential that offers much enjoyment even in its youth but can continue to develop until around 2040.In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby red color with violet highlights. The bouquet is ripe, intense, and multi-layered, dominated by dark fruits such as blackberries, black currants, plums, and blueberries. These are complemented by subtle notes of licorice, tobacco, and spices, along with a hint of vanilla and toasted aromas derived from aging in oak barrels; here, the wood provides a lovely, supportive backdrop without ever taking center stage. On the palate, Château Malescasse is powerful and concentrated, yet remarkably balanced. The ripe, finely textured tannins lend it depth and elegance, while a pleasant freshness provides balance. The long finish is accompanied by recurring dark fruit and spicy accents.Culinary-wise, this Bordeaux pairs superbly with hearty meat dishes such as beef tenderloin, entrecôte, rack of lamb, or game. It also pairs excellently with braised dishes, mushroom dishes with truffles, and aged hard cheeses. Served at 16 to 18 °C and ideally decanted one to two hours before drinking, the Château Malescasse Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel 2022 unfolds its full aromatic potential and impresses with a successful blend of power, finesse, and classic Bordeaux elegance.
