This Chardonnay from South Africa has a wonderfully fruity bouquet offering aromas of apples, gooseberries and ripe pears, along with notes of lemon cream and pineapple and nuances of vanilla and butterscotch as well. The Glen Carlou Chardonnay is medium-bodied, fresh and stimulating on the palate, with a balanced acidity, a lovely length and an impressive finesse.The Chardonnay matured for 10 months in special Chardonnay casks, of which 30% each were new, second- and third-fill barrels. The rest of the barrels were fourth-fill casks, giving the white wine only subliminal but wonderfully harmonious notes of wood. The wine’s fruitiness remains predominant.This white wine from Paarl, South Africa, is a good accompaniment to fried scampi or mussels in white wine.

Glen Carlou Grand Classique

The Glen Carlou Grand Classique matured for 18 months in French barriques, of which about one third were new barrels. The blend, consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and smaller percentages of Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, is redolent of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate and violets and offers nuances of cedar, eucalyptus and dried peaches. On the palate, this ruby-red wine from South Africa is full-bodied, round and balanced, with fine tannins and a prolonged finish.Enjoy the Glen Carlou Grand Classique with spicy meat dishes.
