Thenard Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi

The Thénard Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi is redolent of strawberries and wild berries, along with elegantly spicy aromas, nuances of forest floor and a lovely minerality as well. This pure varietal Pinot Noir is powerful on the palate, with noticeable but skilfully integrated tannins and a very long finish.This fine creation comes from the venerable Domaine Thénard estate whose origins go back to the 1870s. The Corton vineyard, a Grand Cru site located on the Côte d’Or in Burgundy, is one of the exceptional vineyards owned by the winery. The wine was aged for 18 months in oak casks and is characterised by clay and lime soils.The ruby-red Pinot Noir is an ideal accompaniment to various cheeses, game or red meat. By the way, the winery was founded by Paul Thénard. The eminent French chemist fought against the phylloxera plague in the 19th century.

The Thénard Givry Blanc Le Clos du Cellier aux Moines is a Chardonnay from the Burgundy region that was partly aged in oak casks. This remarkable, light-gold white wine is redolent of citrus fruit, honey and dried fruit, along with fine floral notes. On the palate, it shows a great balance and freshness as well as a great length.The wine-growing region of Givry on the Côte Chalonnaise is dedicated primarily to red wines. However, the Domaine Thénard estate, which has been producing wines since the 1870s, impressively demonstrates that outstanding white wines are developed here as well. The Thénard estate runs three Premier Cru sites in Givry: the Clos du Cellier aux Moines, Clos Saint Pierre and Bois Chevaux vineyards.The Thénard Givry Blanc Le Clos du Cellier aux Moines is characterised by soils with a higher lime content and the southern exposure of the vineyard. This is a Chardonnay that can already be enjoyed young, but another few years of ageing in the wine cellar will further enhance its qualities. This Pinot Noir from the Bois Chevaux Premier Cru site in the wine-growing region of Givry (Côte Chalonnaise) unites fruity notes of black cherries and raspberries in its bouquet, along with a lovely spice and aromas recalling the forest floor. The Thénard Givry Rouge 1er Cru Bois Chevaux was aged in oak casks and is full-bodied and velvety on the palate, with silky tannins, a lovely acidity and minerality as well as an impressive depth and length.The Bois Chevaux vineyard is considered by many experts to be the best site in Givry.
