This white wine is made of Grillo, a grape variety typical of Sicily. It is redolent of fruit with light flesh, particularly peaches, along with wonderfully stimulating notes of fresh wildflowers and newly cut grass. On the palate, the wine is amazingly soft and pleasantly balanced.The Donnafugata Sur Sur Grillo DOC comes from vineyards located in the south-west of Sicily, in the hilly hinterland between Marsala and Salemi. Above-average temperatures in July favoured the grapes’ ripening process. The differences in temperature between day and night led to an outstanding aromatic intensity of the grapes.Grillo is an autochthonous Sicilian grape variety, but ‘Grillo’ (the cricket) is also a small animal that brings good luck. The name ‘sur’ means ‘cricket’ and comes from the classical Arabic once spoken in Sicily. The label represents springtime with all its fragrances and colours.Try the Donnafugata Sur Sur Grillo DOC with starters with seafood, vegetarian first courses and grilled fish.
