Der Blend aus 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc, 18% Merlot und 3% Petit Verdot duftet nach roten und dunklen Früchten (Johannisbeeren), erdigen Noten sowie nach Fynbos, den für Südafrika typischen Gewächsen. Weinkritiker Greg de Bruyn beschreibt das Bouquet in Platter’s Wine Guide so: „Waldboden-Erdigkeit, jodhaltige Mineralität und saftige Cassis-Frucht, durchzogen von Tabakwürze.“Am Gaumen ist der Rotwein aus der Stellenbosch-Region trocken und vielschichtig, mit großer Konzentration und Frische. Die schöne Mineralität und die aromatische Tiefe (dunkle Beeren im Vordergrund) runden das Geschmackserlebnis ab. „Geschmeidig und rund nach 18 Monaten in größtenteils neuem Eichenholz“, urteilt auch de Bruyn. Der warme Jahrgang 2018 brachte Trauben mit sehr konzentrierten Aromen hervor. Durch den anderthalbjährigen Ausbau in Eichenholzfässern, die zu 70% neu waren, erreicht der Alto Estate Blend dann endgültig seine außergewöhnliche Qualität.Entdecken Sie den Rotwein bei einer Trinktemperatur von 16 bis 18 Grad. Alto Rouge 2020

The Alto Rouge consists of 5 grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The grapes for this wine come from north- and northwest-facing vineyards located on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains. Thus, the vines are cooled by a fresh breeze in the afternoon, supporting the wine’s elegance and balance. The Alto Rouge is a deep ruby-red in the glass. On the nose, aromas of red fruit are predominant, along with hints of chocolate and light notes of woodchips. This cuvée is distinguished by its soft tannins and wonderful fruit aromas. Overall, this is a wine with style, lots of complexity and a high ageing potential. Winemaker Bertho van de Westhuizen recommends enjoying the Alto Rouge with game birds and tender red meat.

The Anthonij Rupert Protea Rosé is a classic rosé in the Provence style. The grapes were selected by hand and aged in stainless steel tanks. Afterwards, they remained in contact with the yeast for some time in order to develop the aroma to the fullest. The Anthonij Rupert Protea Rosé is a pale pink to red in the glass. This rosé is impressively fruity and offers aromas of raspberries and peach in its bouquet, along with nuances of apple blossoms.The palate is characterised by a great juiciness and a lovely, fresh acidity, showing noticeable aromas of strawberries, raspberries, other ripe berries and citrus peel. The lightness and liveliness of the Protea Rosé make it a captivating pleasure to drink – and not only in summer. Argentiera Bolgheri Superiore 2019

The Maremma is a characterful landscape in central Italy, which is also known for its excellent wines. Argentiera Bolgheri Superiore from Tenuta Argentiera has a bright ruby red color with violet hues. On the palate, notes of licorice and black currants. This generous, complex wine - consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc - is rich in tannins. It has a wonderful balance with a pleasant acidity. The finish is long lasting - with a remarkable freshness and minerality.The harvested grapes come from the best vineyards of the estate. The grapes were vinified separately; fermentation and maceration took about 25 to 30 days in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then transferred to 225-liter French oak barriques, where its malolactic fermentation was completetd. The further maturation was about 14 months in oak barrels and then at least another 12 months on the bottle.Tenuta Argentiera is located on the picturesque coast of the Northern Maremma, about 100 km southwest of Florence.

Dieses Urteil stammt von Christine Rudman, die dem Babel Red Blend in John Platter’s Wine Guide 4 von 5 Sternen verleiht. Das intensive, komplexe Bouquet des rubinroten Weins vereint Noten von Kirschen, Brombeeren, Maulbeeren und Pflaumen.
