Der Bodegas Mas Alta La Creu Alta zählt zur Spitze der spanischen Weinbaukunst. Auf den Schieferböden im nordwestspanischen Priorat wachsen die Reben für einen Rotwein heran, der von der internationalen Weinkritik schon länger gefeiert wird.

Das Bouquet des Bodegas Mas Alta La Creu Alta ist faszinierend facettenreich. Es vereint Noten von roten Kirschen, Heidelbeeren, Johannisbeeren und Zwetschgen. Dazu kommen Noten von Nusspraline, aber auch eine tolle Mineralität (vom Schiefer) und Feuerstein sowie unterschwellige Röstaromen.

Am Gaumen zeigt der trockene spanische Rotwein eine eindrucksvolle, fruchtige Frische, ist konzentriert und warm mit einer präsenten Würze und meisterhaft eingebundenen, reifen Tanninen. Die angenehme Säure und die charakteristische Mineralität prägen auch das Finale, das noch sehr, sehr lange nachhallt.

Der La Creu Alta ist ein Meisterwerk, vom Guía Peñín, Spaniens bedeutendstem Weinführer, mit 95 Punkten ausgezeichnet. Auch Weinkritiker Luis Gutiérrez gibt dem Rotwein der Bodegas Mas Alta in Robert Parker‘s Wine Advocate einmal mehr als 90 Punkte. Er notiert aber ein „?“ hinter seine 92 Punkte. „Ich habe immer noch meine Zweifel, wie sich der Wein in der Flasche entwickeln wird.“

Genießerinnen und Genießerinnen dürfen hoffnungsfroh sein. Denn noch bis in die späten 2030er-Jahre wird dieser Wein trinkreif sein. Und bei allem, was die Bodegas Mas Alta in der jüngeren Vergangenheit unter Anleitung der begnadeten französischen Winzer Michel Tardieu und Philippe Cambie kreiert hat, stehen die Vorzeichen auch für den La Creu Alta äußerst günstig.

However, anyone who can boast such qualities as an introduction to the wine world of Bodegas Mas Alta will leave connoisseurs amazed at what is yet to come. The highly talented French winemakers Philippe Cambie and Michel Tardieu, who are behind Els Pics Priorat, have created a cuvée that leaves little to be desired. 91 points from Guía Peñín, Spain's most important wine guide, and 90 points in Robert Parker's Wine Advocate speak for themselves.The Spanish red wine from the slate-dominated Priorat region has a seductive aroma of red (raspberries) and, over time, increasingly black berries and figs. This bouquet is enriched by a pleasant spiciness (Mediterranean herbs) and nuances of cocoa and buttered toast. There is also a minerality characterized by slate.On the palate, the impenetrable ruby red Bodegas Mas Alta Els Pics is dry and balanced with an impressive emphasis on fruit. Ripe cherries, nuances of vanilla and the wonderfully integrated wood notes create an enjoyable interplay that is perfectly rounded off by an underlying minerality. How do you make an excellent wine even better? For Mariano García Fernández, the founder of the Bodega Aalto estate, this can be achieved only by selecting the best grapes. The selection of the grapes was carried out parcel by parcel. This explains the wine’s ‘PS’ designation, which stands for ‘parcel’ and ‘selection’. Only the grapes from the best parcels with the oldest vines are selected to produce the Aalto PS. The grapes for this pure varietal Tempranillo come partly from vines that are more than 60 years old.
