The Italian winery Curatolo Arini, based in Marsala, uses its vineyard in Favara San Cataldo to grow the Nero d'Avola grape variety. The vineyard lies about 500 meters above sea level and faces south. Its soil consists of clay and sand. The Nero d'Avola grape, also known locally as “Principe Siciliano” (Sicilian Prince), is Sicily’s most important grape variety. This grape is used to produce the Curatolo Arini Paccamora Nero d'Avola IGP.
After destemming and a 6-day maceration, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine ages for several more months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled.
This Italian red wine is ruby red with violet hues. The nose is overwhelmed with aromas of violets, cherries, plums, and white pepper. Red fruits such as cherries and berries contribute to a full-bodied and rounded flavor. The skillfully integrated tannins are wonderfully soft.
We recommend pairing the Curatolo Arini Paccamora Nero d'Avola IGP with grilled dishes, asparagus, and zucchini, as well as Italian cheeses.
