Gerard Bertrand Domaine de l'Aigle Pinot Noir

The world of wine is full of fascinating stories and outstanding taste experiences. One such jewel is the Gerard Bertrand Domaine de l'Aigle Pinot Noir, which stands out for its natural vinification, incomparable taste and exceptional quality.

Domaine de l'Aigle, located in the heart of Languedoc in the south of France, is one of the highest vineyards in Languedoc-Roussillon. Its vineyards are close to the best sites in Burgundy in terms of climate and soil. Gerard Bertrand, a passionate winegrower and visionary, sees biodynamics as the unifying element of his various wine estates. Today, Domaine de l'Aigle is synonymous with sustainability, innovation and the highest wine quality.

Pinot Noir, as one of the most demanding grape varieties, requires a careful hand and a favorable terroir. The Domaine de l'Aigle offers ideal conditions for growing this noble grape. The rolling hills and Mediterranean climate create the perfect environment for Pinot Noir to flourish in its purest form. The grapes are hand-picked; malolactic fermentation and nine months of ageing in oak barrels and no filtering before bottling guarantee a grape juice in a class of its own.

Intense ruby red on the eye with light copper reflections. On the nose, notes of berries, strawberries, cherries, raspberries and redcurrants as well as delicate floral aromas. All very intense, with beautiful toasty aromas. Creamy, velvety, silky tannins on the palate, all finely dissolved, countered with a refreshing acidity. The finish is long and full of fruit.

Gerard Bertrand is passionate about environmentally friendly practices. The winery has been cultivated according to biodynamic agriculture with Demeter certification since 2018 to ensure that every sip is not only a pleasure for the palate, but also in harmony with nature.

The Gerard Bertrand Domaine de l'Aigle Pinot Noir is an outstanding wine that reflects the estate's passion and commitment to excellence. This Pinot Noir is not only a delight for connoisseurs, but also a tribute to the rich wine tradition of the Languedoc.

Château Saint-Roch Roubials Côtes Catalanes
Grenache grapes were harmoniously paired with about 10-20% Shiraz to create this wonderful cuvée from the province of Roussillon in the south of France. This wine was produced in the picturesque canton of La Vallée d’Agly near the little town of Maury, in which the tireless winemaker and owner of the estate, Jean-Marc Lafage, grew up and thus knows the terroir like the back of his hand. After he had taken over the vineyards in 2006, he created a wine from grapes that ripened on slate soils at an altitude of 140 metres. The sumptuous richness and warm texture of the Saint-Roch also result from Jean-Marc Lafage’s habit of waiting to harvest the grapes until they’ve reached maximum maturity, on the verge of being overripe. They are then picked by hand from 30-60-year-old vines, and the wine matures in tanks after a brief maceration. Subsequently, the Saint-Roch Roubials was aged for 11 months in 500-litre casks made of French oak, of which 20% were new barrels. It is thus no surprise that this wine from Southern France is vibrant and of great stature, and is often compared to Italian Amarone wines or the renowned Super Tuscans. The spicy and powerful Saint-Roche Roubials is a deep red in colour. On the nose, it is fresh and spicy, offering an abundance of fruit aromas such as black berries, liquorice, chocolate and plums. The wine is ample, inviting and juicy on the palate, showing a good, solid structure and a light sweetness. The finish is long, with soft and well-integrated tannins. The Saint-Roche Roubials is impressively full-bodied but not too strong. It is a perfect accompaniment to steaks, spicy meat loaf or grilled dishes. It is also a real insider’s tip to enjoy on a long winter evening in front of a fireplace.Robert Parker as well as the Wine Advocate award the Saint-Roch-Roubials 92 points (2016 vintage), whilst the 2017 vintage was awarded 92 points by Jeb Dunnuck.

Château La Nerthe Les Cassagnes Côtes du Rhône Villages Rouge AOP
This Côtes du Rhône Villages AOP is an extraordinary wine. The team of the La Nerthe winery, which has been based in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region since the 14th century, maintains the Les Cassagnes vineyards located in Sérignan-du-Comtat, France. The grapes for this wine are selected exclusively from the best parcels of land. The soil consists of sand, clay and limestone, providing natural filtration and creating full-bodied, well-balanced wines. The grapes come from vines with an average age of more than 40 years. This cuvée consists mainly of Grenache Noir, Shiraz and a smaller percentage of Mourvèdre. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a further selection process upon arrival in the cellar. Subsequently, the grape varieties are fermented separately for a period of three weeks. The extraction is carried out very carefully in order to maintain the fruit aromas and to preserve a good tannin structure. Before bottling, the wine finally matures for 9 months in stainless steel tanks, remaining in contact with the yeast. The Les Cassagnes AOP Côtes du Rhône Villages Rouge is a deep, dark red in colour. On the palate, it impresses wine connoisseurs with an appealing body that’s not overly full, showing a very silky texture. Aromas of red berries, wonderful notes recalling perfume and sweet nuances of spices lead to an exquisite, prolonged finish.Served at a drinking temperature of 14-16°C (57.2-60.8 °F), the Les Cassagnes goes beautifully with grilled lamb or beef, pasta Bolognese or ratatouille. We recommend enjoying this wine with ‘Tian’, a vegetable gratin speciality from the Provence region, made of tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines, thyme and oregano. Simply delicious!
