This Primitivo del Salento is redolent of ripe plums and cherry jam with nuances of cocoa. Its finish shows subtle hints of vanilla. The wine is velvety and full-bodied on the palate, with a good texture and noticeable but nicely integrated tannins.This red wine from vineyards on the Gulf of Taranto comes from the venerable, prize-winning Varvaglione Vigne & Vini estate. It matured for at least 12 months in American oak casks.
