Quintessa Napa Valley 2018

Whether it is the dark color or the concentrated taste, the San Marzano Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria is intense. It is almost black in the glass with ruby red reflections. This red wine is made from a single variety of the Primitivo grape. The 60-year-old vines of Cantine San Marzano grow on limestone rocks in Apulia. The high sun and the cool Scirocco ensure that the grapes thrive. The bouquet beguiles with aromas of blueberries, cherries, blackberries and plums as well as notes of cedar wood, mocha, nougat, tobacco and a hint of aniseed. It is full and soft on the palate, with hints of black cherry. This intense taste experience leads to a lingering finish. For optimum enjoyment, serve this semi-dry red wine at a drinking temperature of 18 °C. It harmonizes wonderfully with game such as saddle of venison or venison steak. It is also a tasty accompaniment to fruity stuffed duck or a terrine. Also available as a 1.5l magnum bottle. Since 1974 Primitivo di Manduria DOP
The Since 1974 Primitivo di Manduria DOP fulfills all the requirements that connoisseurs have for a genuine Primitivo from Apulia. The Italian red wine is deep and intense, with a ripe variety of aromas that it was able to develop during barrel ageing.Even though the Primitivo grape enjoys its Californian fame under the name Zinfandel, the vine is as Italian as it gets. In its country of origin, it displays a mature fullness, as in the Since 1974 Primitivo di Manduria DOP from the Tenute Eméra winery, and is matured for over a year in French oak barrels. The ageing process delights the palate with typical notes of wood, leather and tobacco, which are wonderfully contrasted by the fruit. This gives the tannins a very soft face, which unfolds particularly pleasantly in the long finish.Since 1974, this wine has been bottled by the Tagaro winery since the 2022 vintage, previously by Tenute Eméra.This authentic wine from Italy unfolds its full depth with game, roasts or flavorful pasta dishes. The drinking temperature should be 17-18 °C. This semi-dry wine is vegan and should ideally be decanted.
