On the nose, it shows tempting notes of cloves, sweet liquorice, ripe cherries and currants. This fine wine from vineyards located on the Gulf of Taranto in the Ionian Sea is round and velvety on the palate, with a good texture, a great elegance and an aromatic, prolonged finish.
The wine comes from the estate’s oldest vineyards, whose history dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. The collaboration with numerous regional grape producers makes it possible for the winery to express the impressive terroir of the Gulf of Taranto in Apulia in its wines.
The dark ruby-red Varvaglione Papale Linea Oro Primitivo di Manduria matured for at least ten months in oak casks. The “Papale” was launched in 2011 on the occasion of the Vigne & Vini estate’s 90th anniversary.
You’ll enjoy discovering this shining example of Southern Italian viticulture.
