Der Jahrgang 2016 steht für außergewöhnlich gute Weine aus dem Bordelais und unterstreicht den Charakter der Weine aus der Region, die für ihre Balance und Ausgewogenheit und schöne Frucht bekannt sind. All dieses ist in diesem Wein mehr als reichlich vertreten. Die Reben für den Moulin de l'Espérance sind im Schnitt 35 Jahre alt und seine Trauben wurden auf traditionelle Methode in Stahltanks vergoren. Sein Cuvée besteht zu 70% aus Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc und 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Der Rebsaft erfreut das Auge des Kenners mit einem tiefen Granat-Rot. In der Nase viele Aromen von roten Früchten. Am Gaumen schmeichelt der Merlotanteil mit gutem Körper und einer schönen Samtigkeit, mit bereits sehr gut integrierten Tanninen. Auch am Gaumen überzeugen die Noten von roten Früchten. Der Abgang ist für einen Bordeaux Sup ausgesprochen lang. Viel Bordeaux im Glas für sehr wenig Taler könnte die einfache Formel für diesen Wein lauten, der als gute-Laune Bordeaux, in geselliger Runde oder auch an schönen Sommerabenden auf der Terrasse auf der ganzen Linie überzeugt. Auch in Kombination mit Steak, Entenbrust, Hackgerichten, süßen Desserts oder Käse eine ausgezeichnete Wahl. Der Château Moulin de l'Esperance 2016 wird noch bis 2023 auf der Höhe der Trinkreife sein; danach wird er mehr Reifenoten aufweisen.

The 2016 vintage produced premium wines in nearly the entire Bordelais region. The 2016 Greteau Médeville is impressive proof of this as well.Since 1826 and in the meantime through seven generations, members of the Médeville family have been producing wines in the Bordeaux region. The Médeville family owns an additional six estates which they operate with an organic approach, protecting the environment to the greatest extent possible, with minimal use of chemicals in its vineyards. The Gréteau Médeville estate is one of its showpieces, covering an area of only 22.24 acres.A restrained use of wood underlines the fruity and well-balanced character of this wonderful, seductive wine.The Château Greteau Médeville Bordeaux Supérieur AOP 2016 is a light, clear garnet red in colour. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of cherries, black currants and spices. It is very velvety on the palate, showing lots of fruit, notes of amarena cherries and a full body. The finish is long and fruity. The fine and already well-integrated tannins underpin the wine’s structure. We recommend decanting the wine a while before drinking it. It can already be enjoyed now but will further improve over at least five more years.This Bordeaux is a wonderful everyday wine and lovely to enjoy on its own. It is also a good accompaniment to grilled dishes, meat pies, game, duck, quails or ripe cheeses. You won’t find a better bargain for Bordeaux!

Roc de Levraut, gelegen südlich von Saint Èmilion, ist ein kleines Weingut, das sich bereits seit drei Generationen im Besitz der Familie Ballarin befindet. Der Name resultiert aus dem felsigen Untergrund der Rebflächen, über welchem sich ein Boden aus Lehm und Kalk befindet, der nicht die schlechtesten Voraussetzungen für den Anbau eines Bordeaux Supérieur bietet.Die Familie Ballarin setzt hierbei auf traditionellen Weinbau und stellt Jahr für Jahr Rebsäfte her, die von ausgezeichneter Frucht geprägt und herrlich zugänglich und frisch sind. Sie brauchen sich nicht vor so manchem großen Namen verstecken, bieten aber den Vorteil, dass ihr Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nahezu konkurrenzlos ist, da die kleinen Weingüter oftmals "unter dem Radar" durchfliegen.Die Cuvée wird dominiert von Merlot. Der Roc de Levraut ist von rubinroter Farbe. In der Nase viel Kirsche, Schattenmorellen, schwarze Früchte, Waldbeeren, Backpflaumen, dunkle Schokolade und etwas Vanille. Am Gaumen eine schöne Balance von Frische und schöner Struktur, das Finale ist von guter Länge.

This Bordeaux Supérieur is produced by the Château Lajarre estate located southeast of Saint Émilion. In 2005, the doctor Grégory Lovato, aged 29 at the time, took possession of the winery in order to continue his grandparents’ legacy of wine-making. The Château Lajarre Cuvée Eléonore is an assemblage consisting of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc so typical of right-bank Bordeaux wines. This wine shows good fruit and simultaneously enough structure to enjoy it right now or in 2-3 years.Of course, the year 2016 also plays a special role in this cuvée; rarely have there been, even at the level of Bordeaux Supérieur, such expressive and distinctive wines as in this exceptional vintage.The wine is a lovely, brilliant and clear red in the glass. It is powerful on the nose, offering aromas of red currants and strawberries, nuances of cherries and subtle hints of cassis and toast. It is elegant on the palate, with lots of fruit such as blackberries, as well as cassis and caramelized hazelnuts together with beautifully balanced, well-integrated tannins and a counterbalancing acidity.
