Fünf Jahre Reifezeit verleihen dem Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5° seinen Namen. Gut Ding will Weile haben: Eine sprichwörtliche Formulierung, die bei diesem herausragenden spanischen Rotwein auch im Jahrgang 2018 eine maßlose Untertreibung ist. Denn der vermeintlich kleine Vega Sicilia Unico ist immer wieder großes Kino und Zeugnis herausragender Weinbaukunst in der Ribera del Duero-Region.

Der Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5° 2018 vereint in seinem Bouquet Noten von frischen Waldbeeren (schwarze und blaue) und getrockneten Feigen mit einer herrlichen Würze. Noten von mediterranen Kräutern, Eichenholz, florale und pfeffrige Nuancen sowie ein Hauch von Vanille bereichern das Bouquet.

Am Gaumen ist dieser trockene Spitzenrotwein aus Spanien „reif und mit einer milden Säure, die ihm ein weiches Mundgefühl verleiht. Ein sehr würziger Jahrgang für Valbuena, der sich dem Stil von Único nähert“, urteilt Luis Gutiérrez in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (96 Punkte für den Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5° 2018). Die Komposition aus 96% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 4% Merlot ist laut Gutiérrez „mittel- bis vollmundig, mit sehr feinen Tanninen, die den Wein schön strukturieren und sehr elegant machen“.

Auch der britische Weinkritiker Tim Atkin ist angetan und vergibt 97 Punkte. „Ein duftender, komplexer, wohlschmeckender Rotwein, der gerade erst in Gang kommt, mit mediterranen Kräuterdüften, feinen Tanninen und etwas unterschwelliger Griffigkeit und Mineralität.“

The 2020 vintage of Alión from the legendary Bodegas Vega Sicilia is once again a phenomenal feast for the senses. The Spanish cult red wine has once again received top marks from international wine critics (e.g. 94 points in the Wine Advocate, 95 points from James Suckling). And what can we say: anyone lucky enough to open a bottle of Vega Sicilia Alión will quickly join in the praise.The bouquet of the pure Tempranillo (or Tinto Fino, as the grape variety is usually called in the Ribera del Duero region) is irresistibly captivating. Complex, intense notes of blackberries, blueberries, cherries and pomegranate in a wonderful interplay with notes of cocoa and vanilla. Nuances of violets and a subtle minerality round off the bouquet. Suckling comments on the bouquet of the Alión 2020: "Ripe, dark plums and black cherries with violets, stone, coffee and graphite. Also fine notes of balsamic fruit and cocoa powder."On the palate, this outstanding creation from Vega Sicilia is dry and at the same time intensely fruity, with masterfully integrated, dense tannins. Suckling finds these idiosyncratic words: "Full-bodied and juicy with an iron fist of tannins, yet so velvety and polished. Very long, concentrated finish that shows a lot of finesse and layers." Aromas of dates, wild berries and honey complete the taste experience, which lingers for an impressively long time.The impenetrable purple-red wine comes from vines that are almost 40 years old. The Spanish red wine was matured in barriques for around 15 months. Bodegas y Viñedos Alión itself recommends enjoying the Tempranillo at a drinking temperature of 18 degrees. Der Loibenberg nimmt unter den großen Lagen der Wachau eine Sonderstellung ein und liegt an höchster Stelle 396 Meter über den Meeresspiegel und hat eine Hangneigung bis zu 64%. Das Weingut Gritsch hat in den Weißwein Tradition, alte Werte und überliefertes Wissen, sowie Erneuerungen und modernste Technik mit einfließen lassen. Das Resultat ist ein Veltliner mit viel Charme.Die Trauben werden von Hand geerntet. Darauf folgt eine schonende Pressung und Verarbeitung der Früchte. Die Gärung ist Temperaturkontrolliert und findet im Stahltank statt, gefolgt vom Ausbau auf der Feinhefe. Der Gritsch Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Loibenberg ist im Holzfass gereift.Die Aromen des Gritsch Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Loibenberg sind gekennzeichnet von gelbem Apfel, rosa Pfeffer und dem Duft nach Orangeschalen. On the palate, the wine shows noticeable roast aromas and notes of aromatic herbs. It is powerful yet elegant, with ripe tannins. Its freshness and fruitiness make this wine a sustained taste experience. The versatile Masca del Tacco Susumaniello goes beautifully with starters with fish or mushrooms. It is also a good accompaniment to barbeque.
