Der Aalto Blanco De Parcela ist ein reinsortiger Verdejo, der etwa ein Jahr in französischem Eichen-Barrique heranreifte. Und trotzdem: Bei diesem spanischen Weißwein aus der Ribera del Duero-Region sind vor allem Fruchtigkeit und Frische prägend, getragen von eher hintergründigen, dafür sehr harmonischen Holztönen.

Schon das Bouquet des Aalto Blanco De Parcela lässt keinen Zweifel daran, dass dieser Verdejo zur Spitze der spanischen Weißweine gehört. Er duftet faszinierend facettenreich nach Zitrusfrüchten, die wunderbar verwoben sind mit Noten von mediterranen Kräutern, Brioche und gerösteten Nüssen sowie feinen Nuancen von Eichenholz.

Am Gaumen ist der strohgelbe Weißwein trocken, frisch und voluminös. Dazu ist der Aalto Blanco De Parcela angenehm cremig, mit einer geschmeidigen Textur und einem schönen Säurespiel sowie einer prägenden Mineralität. Das Finale hallt noch lange nach.

Aalto gehört zu den renommiertesten Weingütern der Ribera del Duero und steht seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 1999 für kraftvolle, elegante Rotweine mit unverwechselbarem Charakter. Das Projekt wurde von dem legendären Önologen Mariano García, der zuvor drei Jahrzehnte als technischer Direktor und Kellermeister bei Vega Sicilia tätig war, gemeinsam mit Javier Zaccagnini ins Leben gerufen. Ihr Ziel war es, einen Wein zu schaffen, der das außergewöhnliche Potenzial der Rebsorte Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) und die Vielfalt der unterschiedlichen Lagen der Ribera del Duero authentisch widerspiegelt.

Die Trauben stammen aus alten Weinbergen, die auf mehrere Gemeinden der Herkunftsregion verteilt sind. Jede Parzelle wird separat vinifiziert und erst nach der Reifung zu einer harmonischen Cuvée zusammengeführt. Die Philosophie von Aalto basiert auf einer naturnahen Bewirtschaftung der Weinberge, geringen Erträgen und einer Vinifikation mit möglichst wenigen Eingriffen. Dadurch entstehen Weine, die Kraft und Konzentration mit Finesse, Eleganz und einem ausgeprägten Terroirausdruck verbinden. Seit 2005 werden die Weine in der modernen, harmonisch in die Landschaft integrierten Kellerei in Quintanilla de Arriba ausgebaut.

Das Sortiment umfasst den ausdrucksstarken Aalto, den Spitzenwein Aalto PS aus besonders alten Rebanlagen sowie den lagerfähigen Weißwein Fuente de las Hontanillas. Alle Weine stehen für Präzision, Tiefe und außergewöhnliches Reifepotenzial und haben Aalto zu einem der international angesehensten Erzeuger der Ribera del Duero gemacht.

There are quite a few people who claim that Aalto wines represent the best of Spanish viticulture in the Ribera del Duero region. Every year, the Aalto wines are once again compared to those produced by the Vega Sicilia estate, and the Aalto wines often win by a nose. For more than 30 years, Mariano García Fernández, the founder of the Aalto winery, was responsible for the wines produced by the Vega Sicilia estate, of which he was the Technical Director. With his own Bodega Aalto, García Fernández wants to achieve the best result without losing respect for the grapes. In creating his wines, he strives for the maximum expression of the terroir, uniting structure and power with elegance and complexity. The Aalto was characterised by a warm winter’s end and an early spring with early flowering. Sufficient rain in summer and a dry autumn led to grapes of an optimal quality. The grapes come mainly from very old vines that are up to 80 years old.The pure varietal Tempranillo (in the Burgos and Valladolid region better known as Tinto Fino) is a cherry red in colour. The wine offers fine notes of spices on the nose, along with light flavours of well-integrated wood. On the palate, the Aalto is wonderfully fresh and dense. Notes of tobacco, coffee and subtle aromas of liquorice reveal the unique style so typical of this Aalto. Due to its soft and round character, the wine can already be enjoyed young. Owing to the soft, enclosing tannins and a good acidity, the Aalto will increase its complexity over the coming years. The ageing of the wine in half new and half used barrels ofAmerican and French oak ensures that it will store well in the bottle. Enjoy the Aalto with a lovely beef roast or simply on its own in front of the fireplace.

How do you make an excellent wine even better? For Mariano García Fernández, the founder of the Bodega Aalto estate, this can be achieved only by selecting the best grapes. The selection of the grapes was carried out parcel by parcel. This explains the wine’s ‘PS’ designation, which stands for ‘parcel’ and ‘selection’. Only the grapes from the best parcels with the oldest vines are selected to produce the Aalto PS. The grapes for this pure varietal Tempranillo come partly from vines that are more than 60 years old. The vines grow on soils with lime and slate subsoils, giving the wine a lovely mineral freshness. The wine is aged in steel tanks before it matures for 21 months in new French barriques. Subsequently, the wine is aged for another 6 months in used casks. The Aalto PS is a dark, dense purple in colour. Its bouquet is characterised by strong notes of wood and flavours of plums and black cherries. On the palate, the wine is extremely complex, concentrated and powerful. The body continues unabated in a never-ending finish. Although the wine is already quite balanced, further ageing in the bottle will certainly enhance its quality. Serve the Aalto PS with lamb, game or tangy cheeses. This wine is a genuine delight! It is also available in a magnum bottle.

This Terlan Winkl Sauvignon DOC is one of the traditional wines of the Terlan cooperative in South Tyrol, as Sauvignon Blanc has long been cultivated by the wineries in the region. Der Alvi´s Drift Albertus Viljoen Chenin Blanc ist ein Weißwein aus der Icon Range des Weingutes. Der Wein stammt aus der südafrikanischen Region Western Cape, ist strahlend hell und hat eine blasse zitronige Farbe. Er prahlt mit einer Nase voller intensiver Pfirsich-, Blüten- und Zitronennoten. Diese Aromen setzen sich am Gaumen fort, mit frischen, knackigen Säuren, die perfekt mit festen Tanninen harmonieren. Die Fruchtaromen des Weins entfalten sich wunderbar und verweilen am mittleren Gaumen. Ein eleganter, abgerundeter Wein mit einer Struktur, die eine Lagerung von mindestens acht Jahren und mehr ermöglicht.
