This Chardonnay from South Africa has a wonderfully fruity bouquet offering aromas of apples, gooseberries and ripe pears, along with notes of lemon cream and pineapple and nuances of vanilla and butterscotch as well. The Glen Carlou Chardonnay is medium-bodied, fresh and stimulating on the palate, with a balanced acidity, a lovely length and an impressive finesse.The Chardonnay matured for 10 months in special Chardonnay casks, of which 30% each were new, second- and third-fill barrels. The rest of the barrels were fourth-fill casks, giving the white wine only subliminal but wonderfully harmonious notes of wood. The wine’s fruitiness remains predominant.This white wine from Paarl, South Africa, is a good accompaniment to fried scampi or mussels in white wine.

So wonderfully balanced wines develop with a beautiful minerality and acidity.The Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay is a blend of Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer. On the nose it offers invigorating aromas of apples and tropical fruits, which are wonderfully complemented by flavors of vanilla and toast. On the palate, full-bodied and with nice acidity.The fresh, crisp white wine was aged for five months to 50% in American oak and to 50% in stainless steel tanks to emphasize the natural fruit flavors. The grapes for the Protea Chardonnay from the Anthonij Rupert estate come from different vineyards located in the wine-growing regions of Franschhoek and Robertson. The grapes of individual parcels of land were vinified separately and partly aged in French oak casks in order to give the wine a higher complexity and structure. In the end, all grapes were blended and bottled. On the nose, the Anthonij Rupert Protea Chardonnay offers aromas of blood orange, grapefruit and lemon. On the palate as well, the wine offers lively notes of citrus fruit and noticeable juicy aromas of blood orange and grapefruit. Due to its fresh texture, the wine is wonderfully juicy and fully developed. The Protea Chardonnay is an ideal accompaniment to all kinds of hearty salads.
