The Mulderbosch Chardonnay from Stellenbosch is an accessible yet stylish representative of its grape variety. The grapes come from various sites in the region and bring the typical combination of freshness and ripe fruit to the glass for which South African Chardonnay is prized.

Lively citrus notes dominate the nose, reminiscent of orange peel and a hint of lemon blossom. There are also hints of stone fruit and subtle nuances of vanilla and toffee, which give the white wine a pleasant aromatic depth. On the palate, the Chardonnay is balanced and fresh, with a subtle creaminess and a well-integrated structure. The fruit always remains clearly in the foreground and is harmoniously complemented by a moderate use of wood.

The wine is matured partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in wooden barrels, with a small proportion of new wood being used. Maturation on the fine lees also ensures a fine texture and a little more complexity without making the wine appear too heavy. The result is a modern, uncomplicated and accessible Chardonnay with good balance.

The Mulderbosch Chardonnay goes well with poultry, light pasta dishes or fried fish. It is also a harmonious choice with mild cheese. The recommended drinking temperature is 10-12 °C to allow the freshness and fruit to develop optimally.

Aaldering Chardonnay Stellenbosch

The Aaldering Chardonnay has an intense bouquet offering notes of peach, lime and mandarin. On the palate, the white wine from the Devon Valley shows a lovely fullness, a creamy juiciness and a prolonged finish as well. This pure varietal Chardonnay consists of three components: the juice delivered by the freshly harvested grapes before they are pressed (‘free run juice’), the part of the wine which was fermented in second-, third- and fourth-fill barrels as well as the must which was aged in stainless steel tanks, making this blend a special taste experience.The Aaldering Chardonnay has a good ageing potential of 5 to 7 years. Anthonij Rupert Protea Chardonnay

Die Trauben für den Protea Chardonnay vom Weingut Anthonij Rupert stammen aus verschiedenen Weingärten in Franschhoek und Robertson. Die einzelnen Partien wurden separat vergoren und zum Teil in französischer Eiche ausgebaut, um dem Wein eine höhere Komplexität und Struktur zu geben. Am Ende wurden alle Partien gemischt und abgefüllt. Noten der Blutorange konkurrieren mit Aromen von Grapefruit und Zitrone in der Nase. Auch am Gaumen findet sich beim Protea Chardonnay die Spritzigkeit von Zitrusfrüchten wieder. Die Saftigkeit einer Blutorange und von Pampelmuse ist im Mund deutlich wahrzunehmen. The Glen Carlou Chardonnay is medium-bodied, fresh and stimulating on the palate, with a balanced acidity, a lovely length and an impressive finesse.The Chardonnay matured for 10 months in special Chardonnay casks, of which 30% each were new, second- and third-fill barrels. The rest of the barrels were fourth-fill casks, giving the white wine only subliminal but wonderfully harmonious notes of wood. The wine’s fruitiness remains predominant.This white wine from Paarl, South Africa, is a good accompaniment to fried scampi or mussels in white wine.

Meerlust Chardonnay

Im Glas ein heller, lebendiger Platin-Farbton mit grüner Tönung. Komplexes Bouquet von Zitronengras, Limetten, Hafermehl, ausdrucksstarker Mineralität.Am Gaumen ist der südafrikanische Wein von mittlerem Körper, aber mit klarer Säure, Aromen von Kalk, Marzipan, cremige ausgedehnte Eichen-, Apfel- und Birnbaum-Merkmale. Durch eine reine, lineare mineralische Note ergibt sich ein sauberer und langer Abgang.Von Hand gepflückt, als gesamte Partie gepresst und sofort in 300 Liter Fässer aus französischer Eiche gefüllt. Dabei wurden 60% neue Fässer und 40% Fässer, die schon bereits einmal befüllt waren, verwendet. Die Gärung fand in Eiche statt, teils als natürliche und teils als malolaktische Gärung. Die Reifung erfolgte für 12 Monate in Eichenfässern mit gelegentlichem Rühren vor dem Abfüllen in Flaschen.Dieser Weißwein aus der Region Stellenbosch passt perfekt zu gegrilltem Fisch, weißem und rotem Fleisch.
