Beyerskloof Eerste Ry Cabernet Sauvignon

The Beyerskloof Eerste Ry Cabernet Sauvignon is an outstanding red wine from the prestigious Beyerskloof Winery in Stellenbosch, South Africa. "Eerste Ry" means "first row" and thus describes the type of grapes that come from the first plantings on the winery. Eerste Ry symbolically refers to the oldest vineyards.

On the nose, the Beyerskloof Eerste Ry Cabernet Sauvignon impresses with a complex bouquet of dark fruits such as blackcurrants, cassis and blackberries. These aromas are accompanied by subtle spicy notes, tobacco and a hint of oak from the ageing in barrels. The wine spent a total of 24 months in new French oak barrels. It is then matured in the bottle for a further 2 years. On the palate, there are hints of dark chocolate and spicy cedar. The structure of this wine is characterized by strong, yet supple tannins. The First Ry Cabernet from Beyerskloof has outstanding complexity and great balance. These characteristics give it excellent ageability and the potential to develop over many years.

The Eerste Ry Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant and powerful wine that goes well with hearty dishes such as beef steaks or lamb dishes. Although it can be enjoyed in its youth, it develops additional complexity and depth over time.

Beyerskloof

Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage
Diesel Pinotage is certainly an unusual name for a wine. However, it quickly becomes clear when you know the story behind it. Diesel was the name of Beyers Truters, owner of Beyerskloof, dog and a beloved and loyal, constant companion of his master. The dog was not only to be found in the vineyard, but also in the cellar or next to the desk. So it was clear for Beyers Truter to name his best wine after his "best" friend. The grapes for the Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage come from bushvine vines. This type of cultivation is frequently used in South Africa, especially for Pinotage. The fermentation process took place over 5 days in open barrels at an average temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. The mash was pressed down every 2 hours. Malolactic fermentation then took place in stainless steel tanks. New French oak barrels were used for the 21-month maturation. Of the 300 barrels filled, only 20 barrels were ultimately selected for the Diesel Pinotage. The color of the Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage is deep purple. The bouquet is characterized by complex blackberry aromas and dark fruits, surrounded by an elegant cedar wood note. The palate reveals a fine but complex structure of black and red fruits. A truly great red wine that impresses with an excellent balance of fruit and wood. A wine with outstanding potential that will continue to give pleasure in 10 years or more. The ideal accompaniment to spicy Indian dishes or a well-matured rump steak. Beyerskloof Diesel is probably one of the best Pinotage from the Cape.

Paserene Marathon
The Paserene Marathon is a wine with character that rightly bears its name: This expressive cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot comes from the renowned boutique winery Paserene, which is known in South Africa for its terroir-driven, precisely vinified wines with a clear signature. The Marathon combines persistence, intensity and elegance - a powerful red wine that contains the best of the Tulbagh region. The grapes come from low-yielding vines that thrive on weathered slate soil in Tulbagh - an area characterized by hot days and cool nights. In addition, lots from Elgin, the coolest wine region in South Africa, and from Franschhoek are vinified, giving the wine aromatic complexity and fresh structure. Fermentation and ageing are carried out with a particular focus on balance and finesse: The Marathon is fermented in small, upright French oak barrels. To avoid over-extraction, the so-called "punch-down" is carried out by hand. Half of the maturation in oak barrels takes place naturally in order to preserve the origin and pure character of the grape varieties. Before release, the wine rests in the bottle for at least six months, which gives it additional harmony and depth. In the glass, the Marathon has a deep, black-violet hue - a visual harbinger of its concentration. Intense aromas of dark berries, cassis and blackcurrants unfold on the nose, accompanied by floral notes, black pepper and a fine spiciness. On the palate, it impresses with its powerful structure, silky tannins and wonderfully integrated wood spice. The dark fruit, underpinned by balsamic and earthy notes, continues into the long, mineral finish. The Paserene Marathon is an excellent accompaniment to hearty dishes such as grilled lamb with rosemary, game birds or a ribeye steak cooked over an open fire. Matured cheeses such as old Gouda or herb sheep's cheese also harmonize perfectly with its depth. For a special moment of pleasure, a serving temperature of 16-18 °C is recommended. With its long-lasting structure and perfect balance of fruit, tannin and terroir, Marathon is a red wine with great ageing potential - ideal for collectors, connoisseurs and anyone who appreciates wines with personality and expression. An authentic South African blend that can develop magnificently over decades.
