Château de Malle

The Chateau de Malle Sauternes AOC offers intense notes of citrus fruit and, according to René Gabriel, lots of freshly extracted honey. This Sauternes is fresh, creamy and invigorating on the palate, underpinned by a lovely acidity. Twenty-five per cent of this assemblage, consisting mainly of Sémillon and almost one third of Sauvignon Blanc, was aged in new oak casks. Neil Martin awards this wine 91-93 points in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and writes, amongst other things, ‘This is simply a Sauternes of top quality, both elegant and graceful.’ René Gabriel awards this wine 18 out of 20 points and assesses it as follows: ‘With regard to the nose, this is one of the most sumptuous Sauternes. It is creamy on the palate, with lots of suppleness and a wonderfully fruity finish. The Chateau de Malle Sauternes AOC easily keeps pace with the great wines!’You’ll enjoy this dessert wine with spicy dishes such as chicken curry or duck with peaches. It is also a good accompaniment to various cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort and goes beautifully with salads with strawberries and basil.
