Spice Route Chakalaka

The bouquet of the Spice Route Chakalaka is characterised by notes of cloves, plums, white pepper and an elegant spice, complemented by wonderfully integrated oak aromas. On the palate, this red wine from South Africa is aromatic, juicy and velvety, showing a great balance and skilfully integrated tannins.

The Shiraz (major proportion), Carignan, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Tannat grape varieties unite to create this taste experience from the Western Cape Province. The grape varieties matured separately for 12 months in American and French oak casks before blending. Finally, the composition was aged again in used oak casks.

In the Spice Route Chakalaka you’ll discover an outstanding, velvety red wine of great depth from South Africa.

Spice Route Winery

Die Spice Route Wine Company liegt in der Region Swartland in der Stadt Paarl in Südafrika. Charles Back startete 1997 dieses Projekt.

Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block
Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block is an unmistakable taste experience from South Africa. On the nose, this dry blend of almost three quarters Syrah (Shiraz) and smaller proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Viognier combines a variety of notes: Intense cherry notes, cardamom, sweet tobacco, espresso and a hint of perfume come together here. Full-bodied and round on the palate, with very good structure, refreshing acidity, a smoky minerality and aromas of black olives, as well as licorice and ripe plums. The vegan wine from the Franschhoek region was matured in oak for 16 months, with 10% new barrels being used. This exceptional red wine is ideal with pasta and pizza, dark meat (roasted or grilled), smoked meats or medium-strength cheese or hard cheese at a drinking temperature of 18°C.Also available in a 1.5-liter magnum bottle. Springfield The Work of Time
The Springfield "The Work of Time" is a powerful, Bordeaux-inspired red wine cuvée from Robertson in South Africa.A spicy and sensual aroma on the nose, peppery and open. The broad and complex bouquet of Springfield The Work of Time is accompanied by vanilla, berries, cherries and a hint of chocolate. You can taste a smooth elegance on the palate and a slightly mature taste. There is also a light spiciness, vanilla aroma and cherry. The overall taste is smooth and well-rounded. The grapes were fermented entirely with indigenous yeasts (according to ancient custom) and left on their skins for 5 weeks. This was followed by 2 years of slow barrel ageing and a further 4 years of bottle ageing. The long wait is justified, because "The Work of Time" is a Bordeaux blend with a big statement.Enjoy this wonderful South African red wine from Springfield Estate with grilled ribeye, pasta with anchovies and black olives or old farmhouse cheese.

Neethlingshof Caracal

Barista Pinotage
A South African taste experience of intense, rich coffee and chocolate aromas with nuances of ripe mulberries, plums and cherries. This dry red wine is also the perfect accompaniment to food. It pairs very well with dark meat, creamy casseroles and even intense desserts. Also a great accompaniment to blue cheese or Belgian chocolate. Vinified ready to drink from the start for immediate enjoyment. We recommend 18 °C as the ideal drinking temperature. The Barista Pinotage from the Val De Vie vineyard is made from 100% Pinotage grapes from the Robertson region. The grapes were picked at optimum ripeness in mid-February and divided into different batches and treated in different ways.Certain batches were treated by short heating to optimize color and then returned to the skins for alcoholic fermentation. Other batches were pasteurized and immediately fermented on oak to achieve the dark, rich coffee flavors. Still other batches were fermented conventionally on the skins and pumped over several times during alcoholic fermentation and racked into French oak to complete fermentation. All batches were stabilized by malolactic fermentation in French oak.
