This ruby-red blend was made from vines that were separately aged in oak casks of different sizes, giving the Niepoort Fabelhaft Reserva Tinto its special complexity. Its bouquet is characterised by notes of wild berries, blossoms, pepper and a fine spice. On the palate, the wine is elegant, showing lots of body and structure, pleasant acidity and wonderfully integrated tannins.

It matured for a total of 22 months. Local grape varieties such as Tinta Amarela, Touriga Franca, Rufete and Tinta Roriz unite here in wonderful interaction. The finish is long-lasting.

Try this wine with meat with light sauces, game like pheasant, partridge or wild duck and pasta with meat sauces that are not too rich. This Reserva has a high ageing potential.

Notes of black cherries and blossoms as well as balsamic nuances and a lovely spice characterise the bouquet of the Niepoort Fabelhaft Tinto. This blend, consisting of local grape varieties such as Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa and Touriga Nacional, is wonderfully fresh and vivid on the palate, showing a great balance, elegance, lots of fruit, balanced acidity and ripe, slightly sweet tannins.One fifth of the red wine matured for 12 months in used barriques made of French oak. This is an ideal starter wine to get to know the red wines from the Niepoort estate. It is a good accompaniment to vegetable casseroles, rabbit, lamb, veal, ham, tapas or medium-aged cheeses. The Niepoort Fabelhaft Tinto also goes beautifully with pasta with dark sauces or a vegetarian pizza.The label depicts a scene from Wilhelm Busch’s renowned picture story ‘Hans Huckebein der Unglücksrabe’ (Hans Huckebein - The Unlucky Raven). As animal stories that contain a moral are known as a fable (‘Fabel’ in German), the Niepoort estate decided to call this wine ‘Fabelhaft’ (meaning ‘fabled’ or ‘fabulous’ in German).

Dieser Weißwein von Niepoort duftet nach frischen Noten von Zitrusfrüchten und Steinobst. Dazu kommen rauchige Nuancen. Am Gaumen ist der Blend aus regionalen Rebsorten wie Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Gouveio, Dona Branca, Viosinho und Bical bemerkenswert ausgewogen, mit großer Frische und einer merklichen Mineralität. Das Säurespiel ist wunderbar animierend, das Finale unterschwellig salzig.

Duas Quintas Douro Clássico Tinto - Red

Bright grenadine in colour with shades of violet.Mature aroma of forest fruit, blackberries, cherries, figs and cistus, with a floral hint. Smooth and fresh on the palate, with the length and expressive aromas characteristic of an Upper Douro wine.Handpicked grapes in 150-kilo crates, pressed, destalked and then fermented in steel vats at a temperature of no more than 25º. Maceration continues for long enough to produce a wine with the desired body and structure. Following malolactic fermentation in vats, 20% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels and the rest remains in the steel vats. The wine is bottled 18 months later.Excellent as an aperitif, it goes very well with soups, starters and salads. Also particularly recommended with dishes of fowl: roast chicken, duck risotto and quail, and with soft cheeses.
