This second wine from the renowned Château Couhins comes from Pessac-Léognan, a prime part of the Graves region south of Bordeaux. The winery combines traditional elegance with research into sustainable precision viticulture by the INRA, the French Institute for Agricultural Research.The 2019 blend consists of 68% Merlot and 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, which is classic for this appellation. The wine was aged for 12 months, partly in steel tanks and partly in French oak barrels.A deep ruby red in the glass. The nose captivates with refined aromas of cedar wood and dark and red berries - especially raspberry and cedar - harmoniously integrated into a fine woody note. On the palate, Château Couhins La Gravette 2019 is round, soft, with supple tannins and an elegant, well-defined structure, with some residual sweetness. Dark fruits - cherry, plum - combine with subtle spice and mineral depth, resulting in a wonderful harmony. Seit Anfang des Milleniums werden hier auf höchstem Niveau Rebsäfte produziert, die die klassischen Werte Bordeauxs, zu kleinen Preisen, repräsentieren.Beim Château d´Aurilhac vereinen sich die hohen Qualitätsansprüche des holländischen Besitzers, Erik Nieuwaal, mit den optimalen Voraussetzungen eines herausragenden Bordeaux-Jahrganges.Uns fasziniert besonders an diesem Wein, wie fleischig, tiefgründig und facettenreich ist, im besten Sinne eines sehr guten Bordeaux. Die typische Assemblage aus Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot und ein bisschen Petit Verdot. Dennoch ist bereits jetzt so viel Frucht vorhanden, dass erste Trinkversuche gestartet werden können.André Kunz vergibt satte 18/20 für dieses Meisterstück eines Cru Bourgeois und führt aus: „Dichtes, tiefgründiges, kräftiges Bouquet, schwarze Beeren, Cassis, Korinthen, Lakritze. Fein konzentrierter, vielschichtiger, aromatischer Gaumen mit viel feinem Tannin, dunkler, süsser Frucht, vielfältiger, kräftiger Aromatik, langer, aromatischer Abgang.“Hinzuzufügen ist eigentlich nur noch, dass man einen besseren Bordeaux zu einem solchen Preis nicht bekommen kann. Château de Cérons Graves Rouge 2020 is a classic Bordeaux red wine from the renowned Graves growing region in the south of Bordeaux. The vineyard is located in the immediate vicinity of the Garonne and benefits from gravelly and chalky soils, which give the wine its elegant structure and characteristic minerality. 2020 was an outstanding vintage in the Bordelais. Château de Hartes Bordeaux AOC 2020

The de Hartes 2020 comes from the renowned Bordeaux wine-growing region, which is known for its traditional and first-class wines. The 2019 vintage is part of the top trilogy 2018, 2019 and 2020 and embodies everything that makes a good red wine from Entre-Deux-Mers.The cuvée consists of the classic Bordeaux grape varieties and is made up of 45% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. Château de Malle Sauternes AOC 2018

The Chateau de Malle Sauternes AOC offers intense notes of citrus fruit and, according to René Gabriel, lots of freshly extracted honey. This Sauternes is fresh, creamy and invigorating on the palate, underpinned by a lovely acidity. Twenty-five per cent of this assemblage, consisting mainly of Sémillon and almost one third of Sauvignon Blanc, was aged in new oak casks. Neil Martin awards this wine 91-93 points in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and writes, amongst other things, ‘This is simply a Sauternes of top quality, both elegant and graceful.’ René Gabriel awards this wine 18 out of 20 points and assesses it as follows: ‘With regard to the nose, this is one of the most sumptuous Sauternes. It is creamy on the palate, with lots of suppleness and a wonderfully fruity finish. The Chateau de Malle Sauternes AOC easily keeps pace with the great wines!’You’ll enjoy this dessert wine with spicy dishes such as chicken curry or duck with peaches. It is also a good accompaniment to various cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort and goes beautifully with salads with strawberries and basil.

Château de Pitray Côtes de Castillon 2016

The Château de Pitray of the 2015 vintage is simply a sensation in terms of quality and good value for money. The 2015 vintage is considered the outstanding vintage in the Bordelais region. It produced the best grapes ever in the Bordeaux region’s modern history, alongside 2009 and 2010. The winery is located in Gardegan in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation with its plateaus composed of limestone and clay, situated on the right bank of the Gironde River, just 8 kilometres from Saint-Émilion. This splendid Château has been owned by the Pitray family for 600 years. It would be a worthy setting for every Harry Potter film. The remarkable limestone and clay soils provide excellent conditions for the Merlot grapes that make up 75% of this assemblage. The cuvée of the 2016 de Pitray further consists of 23% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. In the vineyards, interventions in nature are minimised as far as possible; herbicides are not used, for example. The wine matured for 12 months in barriques and offers impressive harmony and elegance. The 2016 Château Pitray can already be enjoyed now but will be a real delight over the next 5-8 years. We recommend decanting the wine at least one hour before drinking it. The wine offers lovely aromas of dark, ripe fruit such as bilberries, blackberries and wild strawberries, wonderfully accompanied by round, fine tannins. Nothing is in the wrong place here. The notes of wood emphasise the wine’s finesse without drowning it. The 2016 Château Pitray has a well-defined, precise bouquet with blackberry and crushed strawberry fruit, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, not much depth here, but very well balanced with a silky smooth finish. This comes highly recommended, since it is usually well priced. The Château de Pitray 2016 is an ideal accompaniment to grilled dishes, game, meat loaf, roast beef and cheeses. It is also lovely on its own to enjoy with friends.

Château du Gazin Canon Fronsac AOC 2018

The Château du Gazin vineyards are located in the well-known Canon Fronsac appellation, north-east of Bordeaux, very close to Saint Émilion and Pomerol.On about 30 hectares of vineyards, the Robert family, now in its third generation, produces a red wine that is made of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec and does not require any sulphur. The work in the vineyard is also carried out with the minimum use of chemicals. The dry wine from France is HVE 3 certified, the highest level of natural wine production.The Château du Gazin 2018, aged for 18 months in barrels, simply blew us away and shows the wonderful fruit and intensity of the exceptional 2018 vintage. It has a deep ruby red colour. The nose shows strawberry, cassis, some nutmeg, notes of caramel and some cocoa. Round, full-bodied on the palate, with silky and fresh tannins, supported by lots of red fruit, strawberries, cherries, some pepper and mocha. The aftertaste is impressively long.Make sure you get this price-performance miracle, which cuts a fine figure both on its own and with game, braised, grilled or matured cheese.The wine critics were also enthusiastic: James Suckling: 92/100; Neil Martin in Vinous: 90/100; Beckustator: 91/100.

Du Glana ist ein unglaublicher Schmeichler. Chateau du Retout Cru Bourgeois 2020

Auf Château du Retout, geführt vom Ehepaar Helene und Frederic Soual-Kopp, entstehen seit nunmehr fast 20 Jahren wunderbar klassische Bordeaux-Weine, die sich kaum hinter einem noch so großen Namen aus dem Médoc verstecken müssen. Verantwortlich hierfür ist zum einen das herausragende Terroir dieses Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, zum anderen aber auch die Hingabe seiner Besitzer, die ihr nahe der Appellation Margaux gelegenes Weingut bewußt umweltfreundlich führen und mit dem Label HVE3 (Haute Valeur Environnementale) ausgezeichnet sind. Das Beste an Château du Retout ist indes der Preis; Weine von derart umwerfender Qualität dürften weltweit kaum zu solch moderaten Preisen zu finden sein.2020 war ein ausgezeichnetes Jahr am linken Ufer der Gironde, und so macht es uns Spaß, Ihnen diesen Wein präsentieren zu dürfen, der dominiert wird von einem hohen Anteil Cabernet Sauvignon (der Rebberg setzt sich aus 74 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 16 % Merlot und 10 % Petit Verdot zusammen).Der du Retout 2020 wirkt verführerisch fruchtig an der Nase, mit viel Schwarzkirsche, schwarzen Johannisbeeren, Brombeeren, Pflaume und Cassis. Auch Pflaume, etwas Lakritz und Zedernholz, Gewürznoten, Sandelholz und Kakao spielen hier mit durchaus straffen, aber gut integrierten Tanninen zusammen. Das Gesamtpaket ist äußerst intensiv, mit einem lang nachhallenden Ausklang. Ein Best-Buy-Wein, der nach etwas Dekantieren bereits jetzt schon genossen werden kann, allerdings von einer Kellerreife noch profitieren wird.Wir empfehlen den du Retout 2020 Solo, oder aber als food-pairing mit Ente, Geschmortem, Rind, Lamm und Hartkäse.Gabriel (A. Château Filhot Sauternes 2020

Sauternes ist ein französisches Weinbaugebiet und bekannt für seinen edelsüßen Weißwein. Es gehört zum Anbaugebiet Bordeaux.Sauternes-Weine werden vorwiegend aus den Rebsorten Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc und Muscadelle erzeugt. So auch der Chateau Filhot Sauternes. Die Semillontraube hat einen 60 prozentigen Anteil in diesem Wein, da sie besonders anfällig für die Edelfäule ist. Diese sogenannte Botrytis ist ein qualitätssteigender Prozess, bei dem sich Zucker und Aromen in der Traube anreichern, die die Basis für erlesene Süßweine bilden. Sauvignon wird mit 36% eingesetzt und verleiht den Weinen die notwendige Säure. Wobei 4% der Muscadele Traube wegen seines Aromas eingesetzt werden.Die Gärung des Weins findet in Edelstahltanks bei einer Temperatur von 19 - 21°C statt. Die Länge der Gärung beträgt 10 - 30 Tage, abhängig von der Rebsorte und der Konzentration. 10 Monate danach werden die Rebsäfte verschnitten. Der Weißwein reift insgesamt 2 Jahre in französischen Eichenfässern, wovon 1/3 neu sind.Der Chateau Filhot Sauternes besitzt eine honigartige Süße, die von Aprikose, Pfirsich und Noten von Karamell und Mandeln begleitet wird.Servieren Sie den Wein zu traditionellen Gerichten wie Foie gras, Entenleber, Pastete und Obstdesserts.

The Château Fontesteau vineyard, known for its sustainable cultivation, produces a great red wine that harmoniously combines elegance and power.In the glass, the wine is a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose reveals a complex interplay of aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries and ripe cherries, accompanied by subtle hints of violets, cedar wood and roasted cocoa beans. It is full-bodied on the palate, with a fine tannin structure, well-integrated acidity and a long, spicy finish with notes of licorice and tobacco.The grapes are carefully selected and vinified traditionally. Château Fontesteau Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois Supérieur AC 2018 was matured in 75% barrique barrels, 20% of which were new. This gave it additional depth and elegance.
