In fact, one can only genuflect before this wine, as it is the intrinsically flawless essence of what constitutes an elegant and exceptional representative of the Rhône region. The 2018 Hommage Perrin Beaucastel Châteauneuf is an iconic wine and its complexity, finesse and breed are awe-inspiring. This starts on the nose, which combines such an intensive depth of dark berry with floral notes, cherry, peach and mango as well as a beautiful minerality that you'll constantly be discovering new, remarkably dense and intricately interwoven aromas. This continues on the palate with great depth and freshness, still dominated by the fragrant fruit and framed with a bit of salt, licorice, and strong yet exquisite and sophisticated tannins. The finish approaches infinity and once again reflects the concentration that we have already experienced on the palate. This wine is a marathon runner and requires several more years of ageing in the cellar to ensure that you can fully appreciate its superlative hedonism. Château La Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge AOP 2020

This classic Côtes du Rhône of the exceptional 2017 vintage is produced by one of the oldest wineries of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation (AOC) that was founded in 1936. The Château La Nerthe estate had its origins in the 14th century and owns one of the region’s largest vineyards, covering an area of more than 222 acres.Tradition and attention to detail are of central importance. The grapes are harvested by hand and subsequently sorted on the table. The fermentation is carried out in tubs for a period of 18 to 21 days with regular pumping over and pressing down of the pomace as well as daily tasting of the must in order to reach the optimal extraction level. For malolactic fermentation, the Château La Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2017 was put in oak casks and subsequently aged in barrels for 12 months, giving the wine its deep red colour. On the nose, it offers fragrances of black currants, black tea and dried flowers. The wine is full-bodied, fruity and very rich on the palate, showing a great body. All in all, the Château La Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2017 has a very pure and intense character.We recommend enjoying this wonderful Châteauneuf-du-Pape with lamb, beef or duck.

This Côtes du Rhône Villages AOP is an extraordinary wine. The team of the La Nerthe winery, which has been based in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region since the 14th century, maintains the Les Cassagnes vineyards located in Sérignan-du-Comtat, France. The grapes for this wine are selected exclusively from the best parcels of land. The soil consists of sand, clay and limestone, providing natural filtration and creating full-bodied, well-balanced wines.The grapes come from vines with an average age of more than 40 years. This cuvée consists mainly of Grenache Noir, Shiraz and a smaller percentage of Mourvèdre.The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a further selection process upon arrival in the cellar. Subsequently, the grape varieties are fermented separately for a period of three weeks. The extraction is carried out very carefully in order to maintain the fruit aromas and to preserve a good tannin structure. Before bottling, the wine finally matures for 9 months in stainless steel tanks, remaining in contact with the yeast.The Les Cassagnes AOP Côtes du Rhône Villages Rouge is a deep, dark red in colour. On the palate, it impresses wine connoisseurs with an appealing body that’s not overly full, showing a very silky texture. Aromas of red berries, wonderful notes recalling perfume and sweet nuances of spices lead to an exquisite, prolonged finish.Served at a drinking temperature of 14-16°C (57.2-60.8 °F), the Les Cassagnes goes beautifully with grilled lamb or beef, pasta Bolognese or ratatouille. Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deus Ex Machina AOC 2021

Der Clos Saint Jean Deus ex machina 2021 ist eine Wein-Ikone des renommierten Weingutes Clos Saint Jean, aus der renommierten Appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Die Bezeichnung "Deus ex machina", was soviel bedeutet wie "Gott aus der Maschine", versinnbildlicht eine Wendung zum Guten hin, die Lösung eines Problems oder einfach nur die Änderung einer Situation durch etwas Unvorhergesehenes. In diesem Falle war es das Erscheinen des Önologen Phillipe Cambie im Jahre 2003, der den Stil von Clos Saint Jean radikal zu einem noch hochwertigeren, individuellerem Charakter umformte und es verstand, das Optimum aus dem ohnehin genialen Terroir herauszuholen.Der Deus ex machina stammt von der Weinbergslage La Crau im Norden des Châteaus, der mit über 100 Jahre alten Grenache-Weinstöcken bepflanzt ist. Die Cuvée besteht dementsprechend aus 60% Grenache und 40% Mourvedre. Der Ausbau erfolgt in Edelstahlfässern mit Nachreifung in neuer Eiche.Der Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deus ex machina 2021 erfreut das Auge mit einem dunklen Violet. Die Nase duftet nach Schwarzkirschen, Trüffeln, neuem Leder, Veilchen und viel Kräutern, Rauch, mit Spuren von Zedern und etwas Vanille durch den Einsatz des Neuholzes bei der Nachreifung. Der Gaumen ist hochintensiv, konzentriert, aber dennoch sehr cremig und samtig, in einem insgesamt sehr opulenten, aber dennoch frischen Stil. Dieses wird gespiegelt durch den extrem langen Nachhall.Ein rassiger Châteauneuf-du-Pape, mit hohen Erwartungen, die er mehr als erfüllt. Er wird ab ca. 2024-2028 trinkreif sein, mit einer ausgesprochen langen Lebensperspektive.Robert Parker 98/100 ("strong candidate for best wine of the vintage"); Jeb Dunnuck 96/100.

Der Clos Saint Jean Chateauneuf du Pape La Combe des Fous 2020, hergestellt aus Trauben der Hügellage "La Crau" vom Châteauneuf-du-Pape Weingut Clos Saint Jean, wird oftmals als Kultwein oder Ikone beworben. Wir halten ihn schlichtweg für einen der herausragenden Châteauneuf-du-Pape Weine überhaupt, vinifiziert von der inzwischen fünften Generation der Maurels, den Besitzern von Clos Saint Jean. Ihr Vorfahre, Edmont Tacussel, hatte diese Lage zwischen 1905 und 1910 bepflanzt, und diese Reben stehen dort immer noch. Da der Weinberg so durchsetzt war mit riesigen Kieseln und es mit dem Pferd eigentlich aussichtslos war, hier Weinbergsarbeit zu betreiben, wurde die Lage "La Combe des Fous" genannt, der Hügel der Verrückten. Letztlich stellte sich dieser Rebberg als eine, wenn nicht die beste Lage der ganzen Gegend heraus, und die Weine, die von hier stammen, sind Châteauneuf-du-Pape der Spitzenklasse.Höchst geringer Ertrag, Handlese und über 100 Jahre alte Reben machen hier den Stoff aus, aus dem Träume sind. Die Assemblage besteht aus 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah 10% Cinsault und weiteren 10% Vaccarese. Der Grenache wird übrigens im 600 Liter-Holzfass ausgebaut, die anderen Rebsorten geniessen eine Nachreifung für 12 Monate in neuen Eichenfässern.In der Nase ein äußerst pikanter Charme mit Anklängen von Waldbeeren, viel Schwarzkirsche, Pflaume, Lavendel, Wildkräuter, Schlehe, Tabak, schwarze Oliven und Tee. Der Gaumen ist fein aufgelöst, sehr ausdrucksvoll, würzig und elegant und zu den zuvor erwähnten Aromen gesellen sich Pralinen, Salz und Grapefruit. Das alles steht in perfekter Harmonie zueinander, schön ausgewogen und balanciert, nichts, was hier zu dominant oder gar erschlagend wirken könnte. Das Terroir ist einfach so genial und magisch, dass hier alles seinen Platz findet. Der Nachhall ist überwältigend lang.

The Clos Saint Jean Chateauneuf du Pape La Combe des Fous 2021, made from grapes from the "La Crau" hillside vineyard of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate Clos Saint Jean, is one of the outstanding Châteauneuf du Pape wines of recent years. Vincent and Pascal Maurel, now the fifth generation of the Maurel family, are unwaveringly continuing the tradition of the renowned château. Their ancestor, Edmont Tacussel, planted this site between 1905 and 1910, and the vines are still there today. As the vineyard was so riddled with huge pebbles and it was actually hopeless to work the vines here on horseback, the site was named "La Combe des Fous", the hill of the madmen. In the end, this vineyard turned out to be one of, if not the best vineyard in the entire region, and the wines that come from here are top-class Châteauneuf-du-Pape.Very low yields, hand-picking and vines over 100 years old are the stuff dreams are made of. The blend consists of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and a further 10% Vaccarese. The Grenache is aged for 9 months in concrete tanks, while the other grape varieties are matured for 9 months in exclusively new oak barrels.Lots of fruit on the nose; very black berry, spicy, cassis, lots of black cherry, herbs, some forest floor, tea, tobacco and mocha. The palate is fresh, harmonious and well-balanced. Tannins and acidity are elegantly and delicately balanced with the impressive fruit aromas. The finish is wonderfully long and makes the 2021 La Combe des Fous a lasting experience.

So wird beispielsweise heute, nach der Fermentation im Betontank, der Grenache im Edelstahltank ausgebaut, während die 15% Syrah, 4% Mourvedre, 3% Cinsault, 2% Vaccarese und 1% Muscardin in Barriques reifen dürfen. In Flaschen abgefüllt wird tatsächlich nach dem Mondkalender!Dieser Châteauneuf-du-Pape bietet eine beeindruckende Aromenvielfalt, darunter dunkle Früchte wie schwarze Kirschen, Erdbeer- und Himbeer-Touch, Gewürze wie schwarzer Pfeffer, etwas Salz, Kräuter und Schokolade. Der Gaumen offenbar viel Charme, Seidigkeit und Harmonie, mit einem außerordentlich langen Nachhall. Ein insgesamt sehr feinsinniger Wein, mit einem faszinierenden Spiel der Aromen, der immer wieder neue Nuancen entdecken lässt."Smooth on the outside and dense on the inside, like a billiard ball" schreiben die Maurels auf der Homepage über ihre Weine. Wir haben zwar noch keine Billiard-Bälle degustiert, sind aber von der Qualität dieses Weines mehr als überzeugt.

Clos Saint Jean Les Calades IGP 2024

Les Calades ist ein Rotwein vom bekannten Weingut Clos Saint Jean, dem Erzeuger herausragender Châteauneuf-du-Pape Weine aus Frankreich. Dieser Wein nennt sich zwar nicht offiziell Châteauneuf-du-Pape, dennoch ist dies ein außerordentlich niveauvoller Rotwein, den die Familie Maurel, inzwischen in fünfter Generation im Besitz von Clos Saint Jean, mit der selben Hingabe und Engagement produziert, wie die größeren Weinbrüder.So werden die Beeren für den Les Calades handgelesen und während der Erntezeit wird täglich getestet, ob die Beeren die richtige Reife aufweisen, damit der beste Zeitpunkt der Lese abgepasst werden kann. Im Keller wird behutsam gearbeitet, z.B. unter Einsatz von pneumatischen Pressen, um die Trauben zu schonen. Die Nachreifung des Les Calades erfolgt in Betontanks für neun Monate. Wie auch bei den anderen Weinen von Clos Saint Jean erfolgt die Flaschenabfüllung dieses Cuvées, welches aus 70% Grenache und 30% Caladoc besteht, nach dem Mondkalender.Dieser würzig duftende Châteauneuf-du-Pape beeindruckt durch viel dunkle Frucht, mit Noten von Johannisbeeren, Kirsche, Brombeere und Pflaumen. Insgesamt steht hier das reife Fruchtbouquet im Vordergrund, denn es schliessen sich Aromen von Erdbeere und etwas Himbeere an, mit weiteren Anklängen von Walddüften, Lakritz, Mokka und Minze. Der Gaumen bietet einen harmonischen Gesamteindruck von guter Säure, schön geschliffenen und gut integrierten Tanninen und einem schönen Nachhall.Ein anspruchsvoller Rotwein, der zu vielen mediterranen Gerichten passt, durchaus auch zu etwas deftigeren und würzigeren Speisen, wie Pasta, Wild, Schmorbraten oder Gulasch.
